Book Description

Dreaming Hill is a children’s book about abortion. Abortion is a sensitive issue but regardless of where you stand, most people can agree abortion is best to be avoided by planning in advance. You are probably asking yourself, do you really want to present and discuss abortion with your child or teenager? Do you want them to find out about it by themselves? We often let popular media, schools, and peer pressure educate our children. And to be honest, there isn’t any wrong with that because of the complex world we live in. Abortion maybe one of those issues you choose for others to present, educate, and discuss with your child or teenager. Many people would say abortion shouldn’t be an issue for children because they haven’t developed into adults. Yet, children have values the same as adults. Is the difference that vast? You can choose to try to positively influence your child or you can let others try.

Having to make a decision about abortion is a position you can have your child avoid by education, preparedness, and honest discussion.

Dreaming Hill is about how we are different people at different times, at different places, and in different relationships. Is it possible for one to influence the other, no matter the distance, the time? If we could, what would we communicate to our future or past self?

Dreaming Hill is rated G, for general audiences.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs one-on-one with a parent present April 16, 2014

After reading it, I was concerned that it was too directed from a religious point of view. I'd not buy it again, but if you do, certainly make sure that you understand that this view point is very, very one sided and gives no explanation to why people find this necessary. Please be careful in what you say to children, religious or not, all children have feelings and need to understand that this all too human event affects everyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars if I could give negative stars I would... February 23, 2014

If I could give this book zero stars I would. As a mother of two young children, the first point I'd like to raise is that why would you need to be discussing abortion with children in the first place. I've tentatively discussed "the birds & bees" with my seven & ten year old but any type of birth control or terminating a pregnancy isn't something I feel I need to discuss with them at this point. I mean, it was awkward enough explaining to my ten year old exactly how her one year old sister got here, I couldn't imagine explaining terminating a pregnancy. & honestly I wouldn't want to, let children keep their innocence long enough...I could see some of those off the wall pro life propagandist wanting to shove that rhetoric down their children's throat at a young age but I don't think this book would be good for even their purposes. It's not even well drawn...thank god it was free or I'd be asking for a refund...

1.0 out of 5 stars What....? January 25, 2014
I don't even know what I just read. Is MSPaint a proper illustration tool? Apparently yes.

This book is just a convoluted series of pictures that doesn't really tell a story.
