To build a big airliner, even bigger equipment is needed for assembly. Boeing, the manufacturer of the new 787 Dreamliner commercial aircraft, has had to employ special equipment to transport the 787 modules used to construct the plane to its assembly plant in Everett, Wash. For this, Boeing has designated a fleet of specially designed 747 freighters called Dreamlifters, engineered with a larger-diameter fuselage and hinged tail section for loading and unloading the prefabricated Dreamliner components. But the big equipment didn't stop there.
