Review

The art, which conisists completely of 3-D computer generated imagery, is astounding, able to create an entire world while at the same time provide an amazing array of expressions and emotions for the characters. With Dragons, pirates, magic sowrds, and mysteries aplenty, The Dreamland Chronicles has everything one would want in a fantasy story and is the BEST all ages fantasy comic book on the market. --James Mishler, Comics Buyer's Guide

One of the most artistically captivating comic books I've ever seen. EVER. A terrific All Ages comic. Don't miss it! --Adam Messano, Wellredpress.com

Originally a popular Web comic, the second print collection of Sava s epic creation is a noteworthy all-ages fantasy story, impressive for both its captivating story line and impressive artwork. The elements of the story are familiar but well-rendered, picking up with college-student Alex continuing his sleep-filled visits to Dreamland, where he joins his old friends Nastajia the elf princess, Paddington the rock giant, Kiwi the fairy and the newly introduced cat girl, Felicity, in the battle against evil dragon King Nicodemus. After narrowly escaping from Nicodemus's dungeon, Alex and his team battle their way to safety, all the while still looking to uncover the secret behind the mysterious disappearance of Nastajia's parents. Interspersed with the mundane concerns of Alex's waking life, the work is deftly paced, sprinkled with just the right amount of action, clever suspense and innocuous romance. The 3-D computer generated artwork creates a world of beautifully detailed environments and colorful characters; while this kind of art has rarely succeeded in comics in the past, Sava makes it easy to read. Readers raised on video games should have no trouble enjoying this superior adventure. (Mar.) --Publisher's Weekly (March 2008)

More About the Author

The story of Scott
Christian Sava and his pursuit of Happily Ever After...

Once upon a time, an animator in the faraway land of
Hollywood made wondrous
television and film
characters seemingly come to life.

As more and more studios saw this animator's work, his studio grew and grew. But this animator (we'll call him Scott) wanted to tell his own stories.

So Scott converted his
animation studio, called Blue Dream Studios, into a
publishing and toy company.
Now he could make his own characters come to life in books and toys for
everyone to enjoy.

Scott and his family soon found themselves in the magical kingdom of Franklin, Tennessee, where he often has adventures with his twin sons Brendan and Logan in the backyard where many strange
creatures lurk.

After marrying the fair princess Donna long, long ago...Scott is living the 'Happily Ever After' part of his story by doing exactly what he loves to do...tell stories

4.0 out of 5 stars Imaginative fantasy for all ages, January 15, 2007
This review is from: The Dreamland Chronicles Book One (Perfect Paperback)
The Dreamland Chronicles: Book One is a fun and entertaining all-ages tale that posits the existence of a magical world of fantastic creatures, visited by children in their dreams. Alexander Carter used to visit every night as a child, and upon waking, would tell his twin brother, Dan, of his adventures, who would write them down and eventually be inspired to become a writer. Now college roommates, Alexander returns to Dreamland after nearly eight years of not dreaming, only to discover he is destined to play a part in the upcoming war between Dreamland and the Nightmare Realm.

Scott Christian Sava has once again created an excellent cast of characters -- Paddington Rumblebottom III, the adorable dancing rock giant, is my favorite -- and deftly balances the two worlds by crafting a realistic relationship between the two brothers that is equal in dramatic weight to the more fantastic elements of Dreamland. As the story reeled me in, I warmed up to the CGI artwork and was eventually able to appreciate its dexterity, as the impressive team of computer artists Sava assembled not only offer distinctive character designs and settings, but manage to communicate emotion surprisingly well. Sava helps by taking full advantage of his nearly 300 pages, pacing the story in a way that allows it to breathe without feeling decompressed. The extras include a look at some of his original painted pages as well as an assortment of character models and page layouts that give the book the feel of a big-budget CGI movie.

Highly recommended for fantasy fans young and old!

This is more than a comic. The characters are three dimensional; we watch them grow up. The art is astounding, and the plot is rich. This is a comic the whole family will love.
