5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book Todd Schorr is a surrealistic treasure, July 30, 2005

I found out about about Todd Schorr through reading Juxtapoz magazine, being a fan of "lowbrow art" I loved how Schorr mixes so many influences from cartoons to hot rod culture to make statements from the personal to our social concerns. "The battle of Holidays" and the Thanksgiving paintings are amongst my faves and are in the book. It's packaging and presentations are great for a hardcover book. Outside of Robert Williams, Todd Schorr is amongst the best artists in the world get this book.

This is a beautiful book! Featuring super detailed work by one of the most talented artists of today, the photographs of Schorr's paintings are stunning, and the typography is set beautifully in this hardbound masterpiece. Absolutely amazing. Awesome coffee table book. A pleasure to read. Highly recommended. Rock on, Mr. Schorr!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Art, February 13, 2004

Todd Schorr is at his best. The book has his latest work from the last 7 or 8 years. The next best thing to seeing them in person is looking at it in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars twisted pop art, January 27, 2008
This review is from: Dreamland (Hardcover)
A great book of twisted pop art. Those of you with a love of the age of characters selling products and differing takes upon such characters will love it. It is a book you will either love or hate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreamy ..., October 31, 2007

A simply superb book - gives a real sense of process, of the development of Mr. Schorr's unique style over time, and has nice large repros of the work (including many of the 'detail' insets so necessary to get any real sense of this work). A must-have for anyone interested in modern surrealism or in pop culture generally, plus a pure joyous delight from start to finish.

It would be straightforward and reasonable to write a Ph.D. thesis on the images and characters here selected and manipulated, and their role in American culture -- More revealingly perhaps, children who visit me and see it simply ADORE this book, and there is little or no non-kid-appropriate imagery. I bought a copy of this as a surprise gift for a teenage-artist friend who had mentioned a newfound fascination with Magritte, and she says it 'changed her life'! While I won't promise life changes, I can easily promise that anyone with an interest in how images are used to massage the public psyche, and/or a fully-developed sense of the ridiculous and the sublime, will find a whole lot to love here. CC

Went to a Todd Schorr art show a few years ago and wish we could afford a print. But since we can't, got the book.
This is a really good buy.

I bought this book for my hubby a few years ago. Todd Schorr is probably my favorite artist of all time, I can look at just one of his paintings for hours and still not really "see" the entire thing. Great book, it's a must-have for any art lover and definitely for any fan of Todd Schorr.

5.0 out of 5 stars Schorr scores big!, December 28, 2008
This review is from: Dreamland (Hardcover)
This is a beautiful book. Schorr's work is beyond good. He's an artistic master changing the LA art scene with his cartoon-realism masterpieces. Perhaps even changing the world's art scene. He has destroyed old fine art constrictions, and modern art snobbery. He's my hero!
