5.0 out of 5 stars Dreams and all my jealousy
This is one of my favorite Kottke recordings, and I have every one, even the scratchy Circle 'Round the Sun that only came out on vinyl. Mona Ray, Constant Traveler, Hole in the Day, Twilight Property are all favorites of mine. the magic of Kottke is that I never really select songs on his albums to play as I listen straight through like it's a continuous textured...

3.0 out of 5 stars My favourite album cover of all time
The cover is of Leo and a guy in a rubber mask in front of Monument Valley. This album also has my favourite ever song title - When Shrimps Learn to Whistle. This also happens to also be my favourite Kottke song. Why then have I only given it 3 stars? I've tried to love the rest of it, but it doesn't hold my attention like so much of his stuff. Sorry to disagree with...

And it is. And this is. Echoes of Mudlark and Ice water resound here.

5.0 out of 5 stars He inspired me to learn to play guitar..., August 5, 2004

It was this album, when I was about 9 years old that made me want to play guitar. It's incredible. My dad owned it on vinyl. When I went to college, he made me a cassette because it was out of print. I finally got my copy on CD from this site. If you want to know what makes Leo great, this is the album to listen to...no singing...just music.

Absolutely fantastic. Leo Kottke is a one of a kind American. His music is fluid, smooth and dynamic. Just listening to it, is like a claming day in the mountains. I listened to it in the 70's and I am still hooked today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cosmic, November 28, 2001
This review is from: Dreams & All That Stuff (Audio CD)
All of Leo's work is great but this album is an apex. When it came out, I remember a review characterizing it as "music of the (celestial) orbs". It is truly magical and beautiful. It clearly shows what distinguishes Kottke's genius from much of the technically proficient but musically vacuous output of many other players.

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting piece of work, September 21, 2001
This review is from: Dreams & All That Stuff (Audio CD)
This is my favorite Leo Kottke album. It has a nice blend of country, new age, and blue grass. There isn't one bad song on the entire album. My favorite songs are "When Shrimps Learn To Whistle," "Twilight Property," and "Constant Traveler." Check out the audio samples above...

Short, sweet and to the point, "Dreams" is my favorite Leo Kottke album. The songs just seem to belong together; after listening to this album a few times, you can't imagine hearing these songs in any other order than they exist here.

Highlights: "When Shrimps Learn To Whistle," "Bill Cheatham" and "Hole in the Day," a song that I actually taught myself to play (albeit poorly), and "Constant Traveler," Kottke's cover of the John McLaughlin song.

In short, it's a great album! Go for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Leo album!, August 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Dreams & All That Stuff (Audio CD)
This is a very relaxing and beautiful set of "Ry Cooderesque" songs that I'm so happy is finally out on CD! They're mostly insturmentals. If you like Leo and or new age type stuff you should love this. One of the most hauntingly beautiful albums I know of! (But that's just me.)
