I'm very leary about trying new authors. My favorites are Radclyffe and Susan X. Meagher. I decided to give this author a try even though the reviews on "Magic of the Heart" weren't spectacular. Dreams of Bali is an incredible read. The characters were well developed and the author gave just enough back story to be helpful, but not too much as to be repetitive and boring. The book grabbed me and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. It is a book about conquering your own demons to begin trusting again. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure and romance.

Loved it!,

I read a lot of books in this genre (lesbian romance) for relaxation. Most books are predictable but fun. This book was different. I could not put it down once I started reading! I wish all writers were this good from the first page to the last. The characters were intriguing, they had a history which made their relationship very complex, and while the book started out as a romance it ended up being so much more! The characters will stay with me for sure.

More than a romance,
By TerryB "Lesfic fan" (Truro, UK) - See all my reviews

Madison Barnes is a hot shot attorney and she owns her own successful company. Some of her clients fly the wrong side of the law, but she doesn't care, it's all money to her and she defends them regardless. Madison lives for her work and has no time for relationships, nor does she want one.. She just enjoys a string of one night stands. The one person Madison has any real connection with is her sister Dee, but she doesn't treat her very well either. Karlie Henderson is Dee's best friend and has worshiped Madison from afar for years. Madison thinks Karlie is a self opinionated trouble maker and avoids her whenever possible. In fact whenever the two women are together it ends in them being sarcastic and nasty to each other. One weekend, all that changes. Dee is going out of town and asks Madison to look after Karlie. Karlie's life is upside down. She is depressed about her personal life and can't imagine how she will get through the weekend with the arrogant Madison. But they soon find they are both attracted to each other. Madison doesn't want anything beyond a weekend with Karlie, but Karlie wants much more. Add to the mix some of Madison's criminal clients and the two women's lives will never be the same again.
I feel this book has been somewhat overlooked. It wasn't available in paperback here in the UK when it was first published and still isn't. It is much more than a simple romance. The story moves quickly along and it is exciting. I found that I couldn't put this down once I'd started it. Thank goodness for the availability of ebooks now.

This author displays a talent for creative writing skills, but the plot was lacking in creativity. I disagree with all of the other reviews of this book. The characters lacked depth. The main character is a criminal lawyer, but there were so many glaring inconsistencies regarding legal protocol and procedures that it was obvious the author did not do much research. It would be like me writing a travel guide for ("the authors beloved") Wyoming even though I've only visited the state once. The use of a thesaurus would have been helpful, i.e., "Bitch" is not the only word available to describe a female you don't care for, even when trying to sound like a thug for organized crime. If you're looking for a book that has great sex scenes (the reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1), but don't care about the pages between the sex scenes, then this book is for you. If you're looking for romance and depth, don't bother with this book. If you have any back ground in criminal law or law enforcement and want a book to be believable and accurate, don't buy this book.

I bought this book based on the description and the reviews. Totally worth it! Great read, I couldn't stop once I got started and I know I'll be reading it again many more times. Likeable, balanced characters and the perfect combo of romance and suspense. My heart was literally racing in some places. Do yourself a favor and pay for this one! I'm definitely going to be reading more of C.J.'s books.
