5.0 out of 5 stars The 5 Dreams of Every Woman
Rarely do I ever read a book like this that speaks to me and pulls me in like this one did. I like to read books written by women for women; books that deal with real-life issues both good and bad. The 5 Dreams of Every Woman is one of the most useful and spiritually rich books I have read in a long time. There were so many moments that I felt Sharon wrote just for me...

Rarely do I ever read a book like this that speaks to me and pulls me in like this one did. I like to read books written by women for women; books that deal with real-life issues both good and bad. The 5 Dreams of Every Woman is one of the most useful and spiritually rich books I have read in a long time. There were so many moments that I felt Sharon wrote just for me. I am sure that just about any woman who reads this book will have a similar experience. Sharon gives us a lot of personal stories from her life and from the lives of those close to her and she applies Biblical truth to show that God is with us no matter what.

I want to keep this review short because there is very little I can say that will do this book justice. Each woman reading it will have her own experience and will be able to reach a new level in her relationship to God. I've always known that God loves me and wants the best for me, but Sharon has highlighted scripture that really drives it home in a new way for me. I absolutely loved this book. I had such a difficult time putting it down because I did not want to let go of that feeling of peace this book gave me. The 5 Dreams of Every Woman is fantastic and a very pleasant surprise in my Christian walk.

This book was provided for review by Harvest House. I was under no obligation to write a positive review. This review is my honest opinion.

I thought this was really a good book for those who have gone through the pain of having their dreams shattered and are struggling to build their lives over again from the ground up. The author helps us to get in touch with our dreams and desires, discern whether they are dreams worth pursuing, and the hope that God can turn our lives into something wonderful. Peppered with stories from the past and present, this book will inspire you to put the past behind and start walking into your future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A motivational and inspirational book, May 25, 2011

This review is from: The 5 Dreams of Every Woman...And How God Wants to Fulfill Them (Paperback)
Everyone has dreams. Not just the bigger house, nicer car dreams, or fancier clothes dreams, but deep desires, placed within the heart by God Himself. While both men and women go through life never realizing their dreams, author Sharon Jaynes speaks specifically to women in her book, THE 5 DREAMS OF EVERY WOMAN...AND HOW GOD WANTS TO FULFILL THEM. Jaynes, an international inspirational speaker and Bible teacher for ladies' conferences and events, speaks to women about realizing and fulfilling our deepest longings and desires. Based on lots of research and personal testimony, Jaynes has come up with the top five dreams of most women. They are:

*To have a daddy who loves me

*To be a bride

*To be a mommy

*To be beautiful

*To have a best friend

The first section covers those childhood dreams listed above. As little girls, most of us deeply longed for these things. We twirled our dresses for our daddies. We played "house" and were "mommy" to our baby dolls. We spent hours in front of the mirror experimenting with makeup and hairstyles. We hopped from friend to friend, trying to find that one girl we could bond with, who totally "got" us.

And years later, as women, most of us can name at least two dreams on that list we still long for today. Some women may find themselves getting defensive about one of these "common" dreams. Perhaps there are women who have never dreamed about becoming a mother. Of course, as with everything, there are going to be exceptions, but these are the five most common dreams of women around the world.

Section two reminds us of three women from the Bible who had dreams. First, there is Sarah, who interfered with God's dreams by taking matters into her own hands and attempting to "force" the family God promised to her and Abraham. Then we meet Naomi, a woman who forgot her dreams and blamed God for her afflictions instead of giving thanks for the things she had. And finally, we meet Esther, who fulfilled God's dreams for her life when she trusted that God would use her to accomplish His purpose.

The third section deals with three situations that can occur when life collides with our dreams. Shattered Dreams most often cause us to wallow in our pain and give up on our dreams altogether. Restored Dreams are those we thought were unattainable or that we may have forgotten about, but later in life are brought back to life. And Interrupted Dreams are the longings we must put aside for a time and wait for God's go-ahead.

The final section is a boost of encouragement. These last chapters dare women to dream again. Using the acronym D-R-E-A-M, Jaynes provides tips not only to discover what our dreams are, but ways to bring those dreams to fruition.

Overall, THE 5 DREAMS OF EVERY WOMAN...AND HOW GOD WANTS TO FULFILL THEM is extremely motivational. The scriptures included, along with the author's personal accounts and the stories from women around the world, encourage women to discover the desires God has placed in their hearts. There is something so inspirational about sharing in the dreams, struggles and victories of other women. The writing style is conversational, making it clear why Jaynes is a sought-after speaker. Also included is a chapter-by-chapter discussion guide that would be wonderful for women's bible study groups. There are additional scriptures to dig into and thought-provoking questions for personal consideration.

Yes, every one of us has dreams. The question this book ultimately asks is whether we're going to reach for the stars or sit back and let those dreams pass us by. As the author says in the opening of the book, "Life may not have turned out as you had hoped or expected, but it can be better than you've ever imagined."

I especially loved the section of the book on "Women in the Bible and their dreams." Just about any dream I have, Sharon Jaynes had something scriptural to back up how God wants to fufill these areas in my life. Highly Recommended for women with any of the desired dreams outlined in the book.

NOT every woman wants to be a mommy! Seriously?! Who would ever assume such a thing! There are many women who have NO dreams of motherhood and I'm one of them. I don't think its ok for people to just go around assuming that every woman's dream is to be a mother. To be loved by her father? YES! To be a bride? YES! The other ones absolutely have merit and they're all deeply placed in a woman's heart, but dear oh dear, I think its pretty insulting to massively generalize our gender and say we all want to have kids....its just not true for all of us. God bless you if your calling IS motherhood- God bless you, God be with you, I have the utmost respect for you. But my calling is NOT motherhood and I don't think I'm any less of a woman just because of that.
