This book is a Must Read for all and a Must Have for Republican Leadership.

This book shows that Obama wants to transform this great country because he never believed in America's founding principles in the first place!
Proud Patriot
How wonderful if all political arguments could be conducted this dispassionately and beautifully.

This book sat on my desk for months before I read it. The title was a "take off - put off" from Obama's "Dreams from My Father", too close. I often read library versions of new authors or new subjects to determine whether it's a keeper that I then buy and turn into my source for ravaging with high lighters, Post-it note strips, underlines, margin notes...all for me. No one else wants to read a book so damaged.
Envy...I'll get there;but first a disclosure.
Then author Ron DeSantis is now freshman Congressman DeSantis representing Florida's 6th District; where I live.

I have personally known one person with a photographic memory; it really exists. And after avoiding envy for more than 7 decades, I am now scourged by it.
DeSantis' book is more than a treatise on our Founding Fathers, our First Principals, The Federalist Papers; he also reports and forecasts* how damaging to American Constitutionalism the Age of Obama will become!

In Eight Parts and 26 Chapters, Ron, (hey, I am also on a first name basis with Adam Smith and Laz Long) contrasts the President and Liberal America with our Founding Fathers' most prolific original sources- spontaneously and seamlessly. One can do that only if one is fluent in the material. He is.

It took me two weeks to learn The Gettysburg Address, a requirement of our Air Scout Squadron to participate in The Lincoln Trail hike. I am not comparing Ron DeSantis' "Dreams from Our Founding Fathers" to Lincoln's Address, No. However, when one looks at my fully used up copy of this book...a photographic memory would have been very useful.

This book is a Must Read for all and a Must Have for Republican Leadership.

In Walker Percy's The Thanatos Syndrome a line is repeated, "All good intentions lead to the Gas Chambers." One application of this thought is the way the Constitution has been perverted and shredded wantonly by politicians who proclaim how much they "care about us" and how they are going to do this and that for us; this can only lead to the destruction of the necessarily restrictive ideas of the Founding Fathers and the singularly brilliant document they handed us to allow us to self govern.
Nowhere in the Constitution, for example, can be found the power of charity to reside in the government in Washington. It is assumed that charity will derive from the individual citizens of our country.
If the politicians in power choose to find mythical powers to redistribute wealth so that there is "fairness" or so that we are forced to live under the thumb of a one size fits all health care system, or so that we must all bow to Washington as it decides how we spend our money, how we run our companies, how we live our lives, this can only lead us to destruction and will result in tyranny to maintain calm. The admonitions that we should follow the Constitution lead us to see these inevitable conclusions when we decide to trash it.

On page 251 of this marvelous book, DeSantis tells us how those writing the Federalist Papers wanted to weaken the potential power of charismatic demagogues to promise goodies, because it was seen how often this destroyed liberty in the colonies.

When I saw the title of this book, I knew this was going to be a good read. The Title is so clever, how could the book not be marvelous?

It is.

DeSantis has written a fun, fascinating and exhaustively researched book that couldn't be more timely. Jumping between current events and the Founding Fathers' primary texts, he dissects the ways in which the country has deviated from its first principles in an engaging and accessible way. He addresses controversial topics like "Why should we hold the Constitution in such high regard if it allowed for slaves to be counted as 3/5 of a person?" and asks provocative questions like, "Should Elena Kagan recuse herself if ObamaCare comes before the Supreme Court?"

While Desantis makes no attempt to disguise the fact that his polemic originates firmly on the right - and liberal readers will be given pause by some of his more conservative positions- DeSantis proves a master of the subject matter and readers from both sides of the aisle are certain to enjoy this book.

DiSantis lays out in plain contemporary language the process and directions behind the final contents of the Constitution as
s guided by the joint wisdom of Madison, Hamilton and Jay recorded in the Federalist papers culled from the history of many nations and nation states
that would most ensure the persistence and growth of individual independence, national security and prosperity for those committed enough to pursue it. We have had a remarkable nation because of a carefully constructed formula that is now under prolonged drive and could soon be totally abandoned

The author has hit it out of the park with this book. It's a remarkably easy read that underscores the major differences between the America that our founders envisioned and the one that Obama wants to "fundamentally transform." Mr. DeSantis clearly demonstrates how important the 2012 election will be: if Obama gets reelected and is able to expand and cement his agenda, then America may never be able to recover much of what has made it great.

There is example after example of members of the political class failing in their most basic duties. One will certainly wonder how a member of Congress can take an oath to the Constitution and yet, once in office, completely disregard the principles that undergird the document.

Also interesting is the extent to which Obama has failed to live up to the absurd praises lavished upon him by progressive journalists, pundits and politicians during the 2008 election campaign. His incompetence, though, is less alarming than his progressive ideology and his failure to keep faith with America's founding principles. This book shows that Obama wants to transform this great country because he never believed in America's founding principles in the first place!

Also, it is truly amazing to read about the Founders' insights. Many of the things they most feared are currently coming to pass. They were visionaries -- yet we may be in the process of defaulting on their vision for America through statist policies. The author does a tremendous job pushing this point home.

Dreams From Our Founding Fathers no doubt serves as a wakeup call to a nation in need of a new direction. It's an absolute MUST READ. I actually bought multiple copies to give to friends and family! We'll no doubt be hearing more from this author going forward, as he seems to have a very bright future.
