Book Description

As world headlines blare war, entrenched partisanship, and negativity in almost every sector, author Leslie E. Stern uses her new novel "Dreams Fulfilled" to shine a bright light on what humanity could be. "Dreams Fulfilled" is a psychological saga about the sailing industry that proves a novel without antagonists is still an emotional roller coaster.
"Dreams Fulfilled," is the first book in the Dreams Quartet, an epic novel of two men, One in America and one in England, who help pioneer the modern sailing industry using philosophies that help them avoid potential actions that could destroy their industry in the 1980's.  Each book in the Dreams Quartet takes the reader further into the world of Bennington Yacht Corporation and Oxford Marine Limited, as well as the personal lives of all the characters who will become the readers' best friends. Graham Bennington and Edward Oxford become friends during their first boat show and that friendship endures throughout their lives. However it is their children who take all their dreams of achievement and surpass them. In "Dreams Fulfilled" the reader is introduced to the world of sailing and the love of nature, family, and business.

From the Inside Flap

The Dreams Quartet is an epic novel about the lives of two men.  Dreams Fulfilled begins with Graham Bennington  and his dreams of creating the perfect sailboat. He takes his concepts to the busy Port of Los Angeles to fulfill his dream.  When his wife dies, he becomes a single parent to his daughter, Katia.

Edward Oxford lives in Southampton, England and his dream is to create the highest quality and most prosperous marine hardware conglomerate.  He has three sons who, despite the divorce of their parents, remain more important to Edward than even his business.  His oldest son, Thomas, is a boring and staid English professor.  His middle son, Kevin, is an international sailboat racer who will never settle down. His youngest son, Bryan, is Edward's true pride.  Bryan attains his PhD from Cambridge and takes Oxford Rigging to new heights, surpassing Edwards dreams.

Katia and Bryan met briefly in junior high school and then briefly just before entering college; she to UCLA., he to Cambridge.  The both prosper and grow, working with their fathers, but always dream of the other; ships passing in the night, never in one port long enough to form a relationship.

The Dreams Quartet is an emotional roller-coaster.  From the heart-wrenching beauty of the sea, to the torment the sea can impart, to finding and losing love, to solving the issues that threaten the marine industry and overcoming those issues.  The reader will learn how to sail, why to sail, and how to build sailboats, as well as the marketing behind the marine industry. All the while touching the heart of every reader - male and female.

More About the Author

Los Angeles native Leslie E. Stern graduated from the University of Miami in Coral Gables at twenty years old. She pursued her doctoral degree in philosophy and was offered an Assistant Professorship. She attained her Master's Degree in English literature. She went on to an illustrious career in public relations, but she never forgot her roots in fiction writing.

She wrote her first short story when she was ten years old and has never stopped writing. Her passion comes from her family. Her step-father was world-renowned animation genius Iwao Takamoto, whom her mother married when Leslie was five years old. His passion for his own craft was such that he always boasted that he never worked a day in his life. Leslie feels the same. When she is writing, it is not work. It is sheer pleasure as it has been since her childhood.

She is an active member of Mensa and is a member of Writer's Guild of America, Atlanta Writer's Club, and Zona Rosa.

Leslie is the highly acclaimed poetry book Images From My Soul, award-winning non-fiction book Living With A Legend, and the novel Addictive. She is currently working on the rest of the Dreams Quartet and will then begin the Gifted Trilogy.
