The Stone Coyotes know how to rock!,

This review is from: Dreams of Glory (Audio CD)
I think this is an excellent cd, full of high energy rock and roll, great melodies, and great lyrics. This band is absolutely fantastic. Barbara Keith has a great voice, can really rock out on the electric guitar, and writes really good songs. The bassist and drummer provide a great rhythm, a strong driving force that will make you want to get up and dance, stomp your feet or at least get your feet tapping. Like most good music, it consists not only of really good rock music, but some stuff that leans towards folk and country. It is a bit difficult to accurately describe, but I would definitely recommend this cd to any rock fan. It is an incredibly awesome production.

Wow - Please Adopt Me!,

I received my copy of this album yesterday, and I feel like a kid in school. I am thoroughly excited about this album, and this band. First off, with all due respect, my parents are certainly not this cool. This being said, Doug had me "air-drumming" within the first two songs on the album. In an age of computer generated beats, Doug's rat-a-tat made me wish that I took drum lessons as a kid. John's guitar certainly gave the band a real pair of "balls" for lack of a better word. I think this is where some of the AC/DC comparisons have come in. I don't know how much they are warranted, but I understand it inasmuch as the guitar parts infect the band's sound with a certain electricity that absolutely rocks. Barbara's vocals are the best that I've heard from any artist in a real, real long time. In some songs, she reminds me of Patti Smith, but then I hear Lucinda Williams, Stevie Nicks, and even maybe a little Pat Benatar. All I can really say is that she is tremendously, and fabulously...cool in a real "rock-star" kind of way. I am loving this album, and strongly encouraging you to check it out.www.jerseytoddshow.com

I didn't even know of this band until iheard them on XM Radio a few months ago, I don't know why they're not bigger than they are, it's not for lack of talent. They remind me of the early version of the Pretenders, with a dash of Lone Justice thrown in. Great mix of rockers and ballads.

Johny Rock's Cantina is an amazing song. But is a place too, and the music you can listen to in that place is always pure and simple rock and roll. Find the place starting with this record. You won't be dissapointed.

Coyotes - Dreams of Glory,

If you haven't experienced the Coyote's yet, this would be a good place to start. Barbara Keith's voice does not go down like honey, there is an edge to it that demands your full attention. There is a hook to her vocals and lyrics that grabs me down deep. The closest comparison I can make is to Bob Dylan. Her voice is not as rough as Dylan but evokes that same feeling of ...truth? believability?... I have no doubt that she believes what she sings about. I don't want a sweet, pretty voice singing these songs; it would take away more than it would add.A short run down of the songs on Dreams Of Glory: Party Down the Hall - A statement song... "I'm not a conformist". Rolling melody with a guitar riff in the middle of the song. Some catchy lyrics... A man, without knowing why Approached a woman in red. He said the first thing That came into his head. He said "Hi, you sweet little dear What's your heart desire?" She said,"To take the songs I hear And convert them into fire." BLUE MOUNTAIN A much better song. A story song hauntingly served up with an ache in Keith's voice and guitar. In typical fashion, she doesn't just sing the song, she creates |
