Definitive work on lucid dreaming by the master of all LD pioneers, March 15, 2006
This review is from: Dreams and How to Guide Them (Hardcover)
I've never seen this book available for under $300 on Amazon, and I have checked on it over the span of several years. It is not a large book, and if it weren't so rare you wouldn't have to pay more than $30 for such a book. I luckily checked it out at my university library. It is the book almost all other writers on lucid dreaming occasionally reference to, being the first book written solely on the subject of lucid dreaming. Well, you won't be disappointed. The book is the summation of a life's work by a man who understood dreams and lucid dreaming than anyone else (at least as far as we know). I like him because he doesn't incorporate mystic and spiritualistic things into the subject---and yet he is more informed, experienced, and inspired than anyone else you'll read today. He was very scientific in his approach, and had a spledid imagination and childlike curiosity.
Here's another thing to know about this book: This is the only published English translation, and it is only an abridgement of the original, which is quite a bit longer (I don't know how much). All of Saint-Denys' work on dreams also includes his journals from youth as well as sketches, and this English version only includes the "basics."
