Book Description

February 2006
Elizabeth Salomoni Steger has always been a dreamer with a purpose. As a child growing up in Paraguay, she dreamed of earning a degree from an American university. And she dreamed of using that education to become both professionally established and financially independent. Armed with determination and a creative mind, Steger’s dreams took flight as she won a Rotary scholarship to Purdue University. She still dreams of realizing her ultimate dream – helping the poor children in her native land in achieving their dreams through education and hard work.

Three decades later, Steger’s renowned expertise in forecasting annual orange crop production has earned her worldwide recognition from the citrus industry. Dreams of an Immigrant walks the reader down Steger’s own road to success. Her inspiring story is filled with hope and perseverance while providing practical ideas to help readers become successful and make the right choices in life. With the support of her family and her faith in God, Elizabeth takes the future in her hands and makes her dreams a reality.

Simply written and sincerely told, this book offers readers warmhearted wisdom. Elizabeth S. Her story is a delightful mix of memoir and history. Throughout the book, she liberally scatters indispensable insights that can benefit everyone in their pursuit of a successful life.

The author is an amazing woman! Writing a book is not an easy endeavor, but writing a book in your second language must be even harder. These pages stand as a marvelous testimony to the author's persistence in communicating her message to others. Her words are conversational, yet filled with genuine insights. Her story meanders across continents and cultures, creatively combining images and situations for a comprehensive view of her life

Most noteworthy is her sincere desire to help others achieve their goals. In simple, practical and completely realistic ways, she outlines the approaches and methods she used to succeed. Her words ring with authenticity, as they fill the pages with a quiet authority. From her girlhood in Paraguay to her successful career in America, readers will find themselves on a wonderful journey with a fascinating woman.

This review is from: Dreams of an Immigrant (Paperback)
Very easy read of close up personal observations of cultural, political and business climates of two cultures from the view point of a remarkable lady from childhood to internationally acclaimed agricultural proffessional and outstanding role model.
Great insight into real history and events that have shaped Paraguay over the last 100 years and a glimpse of the position of the United States durning that period. A simple but essential lesson for young people in developing strong belief systems and goal setting.
