Editorial Reviews

Review

"The characters are well developed, relatable, and possess the depth of an excellent writer. I would describe the story as a supernatural crime thriller, and to make things even more interesting it is based in Australia - and that sense of the rawness of the land is conveyed in the personalities on the pages. There is a harsh beauty even in the darkest moments of this story, and a fierceness of spirit that is uniquely Australian. Faulks has won me over with this epic thrill ride, and if I could liken her writing to anyone I would have to say I got flavours of Stephen King, that is if King got off his moped and jumped on a Harley - because Faulks certainly out does him on grit, grunt, and momentum." ~ Wyrdsmith.

From the Author

Be warned, this novel is a dark read. It is filled with cruel characters and harsh situations and is not for the faint-hearted. But you won't find a more gripping story.
End of Dreams is part of a trilogy and is told from different character perspectives. Eve is a young woman, pregnant on the run from a child-killer. Adley, a broken detective who's prepared to risk it all for one last shot at the murderer who got away... Edric Hasting. Grimm, a Lycan, the last of his line and part of family he doesn't need, or want... but the Family want him, they need him.
They are fighting a losing war of the paranormal kind. A war where Vampires will rule and humans will be nothing but food and the only one thing that can stop this is a baby, born from a mortal, a baby that will forge a new world... if only he can survive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read July 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
You have to read this! You absolutely have to read this book! I wish and pray that one day I'll be able to write like Kim Faulks. Her ability to engage, build suspense and heighten drama is amazing.

Right from the beginning we are introduced to a brilliantly-written, most unhinged character: Edric. I won't tell you what he does...you're best to get the full `punch' as you read it.

And then there's Rashda, and Adley, and Eve, Kali, Harmony, Jinx - so many others - and each and every character is individual, with their own voices and mannerisms, their own desires and history, deep and multi-faceted, as complex as any human being would be. Perhaps now would be a good time to mention that not all of them are human, but boy, are they amazing!

The storyline twists and turns and twists again, and the suspense was killing me! I had this incredible urge to skip through so I could see what happens, but at the same time I couldn't because too much was going on, and all of it was important. I was sucked in good and proper. And beware the extra layers to this fictional society - there may be parallels you can distinguish, just as dark and dangerous as the real thing!

The descriptions are very good, the pacing perfect. The ending opens up some incredible avenues. I cannot wait to read the sequel. There was absolutely nothing about this book that I didn't like.

I've enjoyed this book far more than should be allowed. It doesn't seem fair that five stars are all I get to award.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just wow!!! June 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I was lost from the moment I began reading, pulled into a world that was foreign and intriguing. Page after page I was spellbound, no longer reading, but living the book. It's definitely one of those reads that leaves you a little sad after you realize the book is done, and stays with you for days after..and makes you want to read it again so you can appreciate the ways the intricately woven clues come together to create a book that leaves you anxiously awaiting the next in the series!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark book that will haunt you. September 14, 2013
By PamM
Format:Kindle Edition
Eve is young and pregnant. All she wants is a good life for her her unborn child. However a killer that that like to kill children has her in his sites. Edric wants her baby and her blood and he has to have it. As Eve sees her only chance is to run she has help from Adley Scott who wants the killer brought to justice almost more than anyone. Eve also can't get her ultrasound pictures out of her mind. She knows she saw black wings in the picture but doesn't know what it means.Eve's survival means a lot to many people including a group of Immortals who have two sides. Good and evil are playing out a war and Eve may play an important part in the war for the world that most people don't know is going on.

Let me start off by saying this is a hard book to read. Not hard in it is written badly but hard as it has some very harsh scenes. From the beginning you see how evil the killer Edric is. He loves to kill children and nothing is held back. If you can't stand to read about this subject this book is not for you. If you can get past that or you can read that let me say this book is very dark and twisted but is masterfully done. The author does a great job create a dark place that will haunt your mind. There is many characters you get to meet in this book and all play a part in the battle for the world. There is plenty of suspense in this book even if you already know who the killer is you still don't know what will happen next for Eve and Adley. There is many more characters you get to see and several you get to read the book from their POV. This is not a book you can read quickly. You need to take you time with it because a lot is going on and you don't want to miss anything. This book would be a great one even without the Immortals but add them in and it gives it a great touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark and Twisted September 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
What an amazing book! I was pulled into a world so unlike anything I could ever imagined. It was as if I were walking through this story with Eve every page was a different twist and possible horror awaited. I kept thinking I must be dreaming and at some point I would awake and find that none of what I had read had ever happened. Eve's world is so twisted and filled with unspeakable horrors. Then she meets Edric and everything becomes more complicated and sets things in motion. As End of Dreams just gets darker and darker. I absolutely could not put it down. I loved every aspect of the story every twisted turn and dark corner. I wanted to Adley to run in and save Eve and make it everything better for her to bring the light that she so desperately needed. As they struggled to learn the truth I couldn't help but urge them on. I am so into this book and am so hoping that Ms. Faulks will continue to take me down this dark twisted dream world. I will be anxiously awaiting the next in The Immortal Destiny!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthralling, exciting, fast paced read! July 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a book reviewer it is very rare for me to give any work 5 stars, but this story did that one thing that every great story does - it made me think about it between reads, it infiltrated my dreams and niggled at the back of my mind. Like an earworm, it stuck with me leaving an aftertaste on my day to day life. I have to applaud Faulks for this stellar novel, it twists and turns, and dumps the unsuspecting reader on their literary ass. It is gritty, tenacious, cruel, sexy, enthralling, disturbing, passionate, and incredibly fast paced. This is NOT a boring read. The characters are well developed, relatable, and possess the depth of an excellent writer. Faulks has won me over with this epic thrill ride, and if I could liken her writing to anyone I would have to say I got flavours of Stephen King, that is if King got off his moped and jumped on a Harley - because Faulks certainly out does him on grit, grunt, and momentum.

A truly incredible read that will leave you gasping, swearing, and if you're a book junkie like me, desperately awaiting your next fix.
