This was the most negative dream book that I have ever read.
D. Wright
No hint of the idea of dream imagery's meanings being unique to the dreamer, or even any suggestion of variations in interpretation.

In that I have come to believe that there many truths and all areas should be considered.

I purchased this book because of my interest in the topic and the beauty of the book. The introduction is complete and interesting. The layout of the book gives the reader ease of use, the topics are extensive, easy to locate with a comprehensive cross reference throughout the book. The beauty of the book is what makes it stand out among similar titles. It is unfortunate that the positive aspects of this book stop there.
I have spent extensive time studying the mind from many aspects, everything from a psychological/scientific point of view to a parapsychology/psychic/spiritual point of view. In that I have come to believe that there many truths and all areas should be considered.
From my perspective this book seems to carry a negative overtone. Not that Miller's interpretations are all negative, there just seems to be a strong negativity throughout his commentaries. This, I'm concerned, may instill needless fears in those "searching for answers". I strongly believe one truly needs to go with their own personal feelings about their dreams; if their feelings from the dream are negative it represents something negative, and if they are positive it represents something positive.
I have read several books on the subject, as well as compared interpretations between authors, in this I found Miller's "views" were much his own and not a general consensus. Not to mention he seems matter a fact in his interpretations leaving no room for personal exploration. That said, there are many other books on the subject which can guide one to their own interpretations while still providing a general meaning to what a dream symbolizes, giving individual value to each interpretation .

This book is largely a reprint of a dream interpretation manuscript written at the turn of the last century (1800-1900). It draws on some archetypal dream imagery that some feel all people share in our collective unconscious. As old as this information is, it is surprisingly, eerily accurate today. Many times I've had some bizarre dream that I couldn't make sense of, only to look up the imagery in this book and see that it described a situation in my life perfectly. For example, I woke up terrified after having dreamt of being in a huge fire. When I read that fire usually means a burst of energy in the form of huge success in business, I was thrilled. I had just switched careers and, yes, things turned out very well, just like the dream portended. I've had to buy this book for a couple of friends just to get them to stop calling me after every time they had a crazy dream!

Dream interpretation is a subject I've always been fascinated with, so I was eager to read this book.

What a disappointment ... the first portion of the book is a lengthy, rambling, desultory text that goes on and on with no breaks (such as chapters, topics, etc). The author strings together numerous, unrelated examples of dreams .. some by well known historical people, others by unnamed anonymous individuals. What would have made an excellent one paragraph introduction to the topic, the author made into a never ending list (I read it on a Kindle, so I can't give you number of pages).

I had read a third of the book and there was still no progression to the book's topic of Dream Interpretation. That's when I found there is no table of contents because there are no chapters or sections in the book.

The beginning pages provide an alphabetic list of dream objects/subjects, along with associated page numbers, but these were meaningless on the Kindle. Additionally, the list is not linkable (you can't click on any of the words and jump there in the Kindle ... your only navigation is endlessly clicking the NEXT PAGE button, or making a wild guess on a numeric Kindle location.

Once I got to the actual list of dream imagery items, these items were presented very cut and dried, with only 2 or 3 lines of explanation for each item, with almost dictionary like descriptions. No hint of the idea of dream imagery's meanings being unique to the dreamer, or even any suggestion of variations in interpretation.

I have deleted the book off my Kindle. I do not feel the author has any knowledge of the subject; additionally, the quality of writing is very poor ... much like one might find in a high schooler's term paper. I gave it one star only because giving it zero stars was not an option with Amazon.

I found this book useful for my dream interpretations, however, as with many things in life, it has it's faults. It is a bit outdated, considering it has shirt-waists, parasols, and chalk for the face. It is good to have the old, but you also need the new. It is the best I have found so far, but is a bit in the past and with that, I couldn't find meanings on anything that exists now but did not then. I also think, that since the white race was "superior" at that time, nothing relating to other races was included. Also, it seems to surround the Christian religion beliefs so it is not a very open-minded kind of book, I guess.. which might make it inaccurate. I was disappointed in how they had interpretations for the Devil and Satan, but not for Lucifer. It was a very important dream in which Lucifer is/was not the same as the other two.

I have looked in other dream books, and saw the EXACT same interpretations as in this book, and I wonder if they stole it, or vice-versa. This has made me slightly worried on the originality and accuracy of these meanings. However, the book is none-the-less useful at least 80% of the time.

Are you wondering if these interpretations are ever true? Well, to secure your hope, I believe so, since I have encountered some way of proof. I will explain... I would interpret my friend's dreams, and the dreams would have no significant connection between the events in her dreams and what the interpretations foretold. She was to be my ex-friend soon, and when I interpreted her dream, it foretold of her to be careful with friends and that a friend was going to betray her or something like that (have mercy, I don't remember the exact meaning). It basically foretold of what was to happen and the result of it.
