Irish music doesn't get better than this., January 8, 2012
This review is from: Dreams of Ireland (Audio CD)
Phil Coulter was born in Derry in 1942 and has had a career spanning 4 decades, and continues to be one of Ireland's best loved musicians and songwriters.Hopefully the "troubles" in Northern Ireland are beginning to be behind us.Coulter lived through most of these problems and his song" The Town I loved So Well" is the best ,most loved and popular song about Derry and what it meant to the people who lived there during the darkest days. That song has almost become a national anthem and you will hear it anywhere Irish people gather and music is played.
Coulter has produced a prodigous amount of music, earning him 23 Platinum,39 Gold, and 52 Silver Awards. He is popular throughout the world and has performed at The White House and Carnegie Hall.
This collection of well known songs is different in that it is all instrumental.
If you have ever visited an Irish shop anywhere, you will hear beautiful background music and if you would like a collection of that kind of music, look no further, you'll be happy with this collection. Here you will hear those songs like "Raglan Road", "The Fields of Athenry","The Mountains Of Mourne","The Rose Of Tralee",etc., played on the piano as only Phil Coulter can play them.
