Best read if you have read other books in the series, but could stand alone.

A historical medieval love story, a bit of mystery and danger all rolled into one nicely written book.

Kurkand gets back to the Medieval Piagets and her writing is more controlled and thoughtful than her last book. Although she uses some time worn conventions, she is able to present her story in a fresh manner. I've read just about all of her work, and will continue to do so, whether she uses time travel or not. I was actually glad to read a straightforward story, much like her early ones.It was good to read a book about Isabelle. I look forward to finding out who her next hero or heroine will be. I also wondered about the title, but that didn't stop me for giving the book four stars!

Isabel was enchanting, the character well developed and the plot unveiled slowly. I could not put the book down. Hope there will be a follow-up.

I wish I could be Lynn Kurland's editor. Her medieval romances are full of spirit and adventure but also full of inconsistencies that make them hard to read. (For example: is Isabelle's beauty a very poor second best to Amanda's, or or they mirrors of each other?) I would also encourage her to bring the dialogue of her stars back to the high levels seen in her best books. The brother Miles of this book does not compare to the Miles in the Nicholas-Jennifer story.

Lynn Kurland is back! Dreams of Lilacs is her latest release and it is the story of Isabelle de Piaget. I have been waiting for quite some time for her story and it was an absolute delight. Lynn Kurland shines when she returns to medieval times to write this much anticipated story. I have been waiting for this book to complete all the stories of Rhys and Gwennelyn de Piaget's children. I immensely enjoyed reading about old acquaintances and learning about new ones.

Isabelle has got to get herself to France in order to save her family from danger and death. She somehow eludes her brothers and ends up cutting her hair and disguising herself in boy's clothes in order to get on the ship. Unfortunately things didn't go as plan when she is shipwrecked and loses her memory before getting to France. She gets saved by a nobleman and ends up working in his kitchen. Gervase de Seger hasn't a clue that she is female until it is too late. While Isabelle is trying to regain her memories, she works for Gervase and ends up becoming the tutor for his 3 younger brothers. Gervase's bigger problem is trying to figure out who wants him dead. He was injured 6 months ago and it seems the danger is not over. Turns out that what Isabelle sets out to do is closely entwined with whoever might be out to hurt Gervase. It takes them both down the same path of danger, intrigue, and even love.

Isabelle is a girl who is looking for her own identity amongst her siblings and it is hard to break away from the pack. She is the second daughter and has had to deal with being the one daughter that no one knows her name. Suitors have come to court Amanda, her older and very beautiful sister, and find that she is unavailable. They don't even bother to learn her name when they ask for the one who is left.

I loved this book so much (and I have long loved Lynn Kurland as an author) that when I completed reading this book about Isabelle de Piaget, I went back to the story of her parents, Rhys and Gwennolyn to be followed by that of their eldest son, Robin and his wife, Anne.

Kurland's writing style is the best! My favorite authors are those who can write with style and humor. There is no gratuitous violence, for which I am eternally grateful. I have a hard time putting down a Kurland novel even to take time to let the dogs out or to eat! This new entry into the de Piaget family is fantastic!

not nearly as good as the time travel books, I rate my books on if I would want to read it again. most of Lynn Kurland's books I can't put down on the first reading and have read again several times. I absolutely love her books!! she is one my favorite writers, along with Lynsay Sands and Julie Garwood. I really wish I could have given this a better rating , I pre ordered this book and could hardly wait to get it, so I was a little let down.

I look forward to each and every new arrival of this series from Lynn Kurland. The de Piaget and MacLeod families are stuff of dreams and I must say, they are my go to books. Very few writers have the guts to write about love and relationships without all of the nonsense (erotica) that you find in most books these days. Lynn Kurland's stories are just sweet, enduring tales of couples who are meant to be together at all costs. (With sometimes help from the Boar's Head Trio matchmakers who were sorely missed in this book.)

Isabel has had her trials of being part of the renowned de Piaget family but still maintains her spunk and wit as well as sweetness. Frankly, I only allowed myself to read one chapter per day so I could continue to enjoy her story for as long as possible. And Gervase de Seger? What more could a maiden ask for? Regardless of all of his grumbling.

Did no one else feel the second half of the book was disjointed and rushed? The first half of this book was typical Lynn Kurland; humorous, engaging story line, witty dialogue, characters you enjoy meeting and want to get to know better. Isabelle's character develops and matures as she tries to solve her mystery. Gervase is an interesting character (reminiscent of Christopher of Blackmour; This Is All I Ask) and the dialogues he had with himself were humorous.
For me, the story become disjointed about half way through after the main characters traveled to Beauvois. We were able to see Nicholas again; that was enjoyable. The story started to lose some threads when Miles and Isabelle left Beauvois; more characters and locations were added. There were references made to previous storylines and on several occasions I had to go back through the book to see if I had missed something. I pulled out previous Lynn Kurland books to find references; not a hardship really because her books are entertaining.
The mystery was revealed in three pages and this was toward the very end of the book; it felt rushed and dissatisfying.
Overall an OK book, not one that I will reread again as I have her previous books. However, seeing the progression in the lives of several de Piaget families was nice.
