This astounding collaboration between designer lingerie house Agent Provocateur and Kate Moss breaks new ground. These genius innovators in haute couture commissioned the director of Leaving Las Vegas and Timecode to portray Moss in her first acting role, resulting in four unique online films: Shadows, Scale, Exhibitionist, and NarcissusThe Four Dreams of Miss X. Shot in night vision, these films are intensely intimate: a beautiful woman's private dream experiences. Each film is released periodically over the year, with teasers to whet the appetite for the next episode. Enticing you into the dusky world of Miss X, the book presents both the scripts and stunning images from the films as well as a unique DVD featuring all four dreams.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

A new photo book featuring Kate Moss romping in filmy lingerie by global retailer Agent Provacateur (AP), originally of the UK, proves that the line between art and advertising is thinner than a G-string. The tome, along with an enclosed DVD, is the brainchild of film director Figgis (Academy Award winner for Leaving Las Vegas), who uses four hallucinogenic dream sequences to showcase the diaphanous undergarments that have made AP a fashion favorite. Moss's own introduction explains how pleased she is with the "eerie atmosphere that is reflected in the photographs," but the volume's wealth of sexy, arresting images make it hard to focus on the style icon's introduction, much less the nonsensical text scattered throughout. While some of the photography hits kinky, ethereal, Brassa?-like notes-most notably in the use of oddly realistic, carefully posed mannequins-the majority exhibit a playfully sexy tone, with a few half-hearted stabs at genuine provocation (a woman with a gun pointed at her, a "murder victim" outlined in chalk); less successful are a smattering of heavily pixilated digital stills seemingly meant to evoke arthouse grit. Though Moss is at her sensual best, lesser-known models hold their own-their lack of celebrity baggage lets the expensive lingerie shine, proving itself an art form that's equal parts cutting-edge fashion design and delicious excess.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just dreadful..., December 23, 2007
I just purchased the 4 Dreams of Miss X about 4 hours ago, sight unseen as it was wrapped in plastic at a local Barnes and Nobles. I am an amateur photographer and had high hopes upon seeing Moss on the cover. I have never written a review and certainly never written a scathing one before but this book warrants it.
The book is primarily made up of shots of Kate Moss taken on what appears to be nighttime mode on a cam recorder (yes silver eyes and the like; and these shots seem to have been further marred by a rough hand in Photoshop). The DVD again shot in black and white nighttime mode contains Kate Moss rambling incoherently on a bed and walking through an ancient home.
The whole production is just dreadful. The photography, the "acting", the concept...everything just dreadful. The photographer had great material to work with and he not only fell flat on his face but dug a hole and drug an A-list model in with him. If you are wondering what rock bottom is for a photographer or a model, this book is it.
I'll be returning this tomorrow for a full refund and I will very politely ask that they not sale this book to anyone else.

1.0 out of 5 stars Follow up to Kevin's Review, April 13, 2009
I'm Sorry to read Kevin's review....
of the new Miss X Kate Moss book from Agent Provocateur, as I am a professional glamour photographer myself and a big fan of both Kate Moss and the avant garde Agent Provocateur Lingerie ad campaigns and website. But Agent Provocateur did premier the videos from these Kate Moss shoots on their website about a year ago, and i must agree they were horrible - poorly produced, filmed and edited with no real concept. A total waste of time and the use of the beauty and availability of Kate Moss. They did do a great marketing campaign / video with pop star Kylie Minogue previously, and now with Sports Illustrated supermodel Josie Huntington. You can find all the sexy Agent Provocateur videos on YouTube- Cheers!
