Book Description

Dreams of You October 15, 1996
Nikki
In a West Palm Beach homeless shelter lives a fragile young woman in tattered clothes. Every night she is haunted by the frightening secret that drove her to a furtive life on the streets. And every day as she slips through the streets with a scarf wrapped around her head, she feels the eyes of a stranger following her.

Adrian
In a New York City penthouse lives the fashion world's most sought-after photographer. Adrian Wilde is a man with everything-- except love. The one person who touches his heart at all doesn't even exist. She is a specter-- a beautiful, mysterious woman who appears in his dreams.

Adrian and Nikki are worlds apart. The bond between them lies just beyond their reach. But sometimes worlds have a way of colliding, and sometimes wanting love is enough to make it happen.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Paranormal and suspense elements blend nicely in popular New Age romance novelist Wainscott's latest (after Shades of Heaven). Narrowly surviving an automobile explosion, fragile Nikki Madsen now lives incognito among the homeless of West Palm Beach, Fla. At the exact moment Nikki's car blew up, fashion photographer Adrian Wilde was struck by lightning in Hawaii. In a bizarre confluence of life and death, their souls melded; now he's haunted by visions of a woman whose face he can't see until he goes to Florida on a shoot and she wanders into the frame. Adrian discovers that Nikki's running from a killer?and fearful of strangers. This is an emotional, tender tale occasionally marred by bad writing ("a detective-looking man").

4.0 out of 5 stars Memorable paranormal romance with a great hero, April 19, 2000
This review is from: Dreams of You (Mass Market Paperback)
I read and enjoyed Tina Wainscott's first novel ON THE WAY TO HEAVEN for it's original plotline and sweltering love story (now my memory is BAD but I still vividly remember a scene with green M&M's) and while DREAMS OF YOU isn't as "hot" as OTWTH it has another original plot and a lot of other things going for it like a cute doggy character (why aren't there dogs in all books?) and a real sweetie of hero.

Ever since Adrian had a near death experience years earlier he has been plagued by dreams of a woman who he believes is linked to his soul. He is a famous fashion photographer who drops everything to find her when one day he spots her in the background of one of his shots.

Adrian finds Nikki in a homeless shelter and realizes the only way he is going to earn her trust and friendship is by posing as a homeless drifter. Nikki has been forced into the life a homeless person in order to save her life and fears that Adrian has been hired to assassinate her when he conveniently keeps bumping into her. He manages to form a tentative friendship with her when he helps out the dog who has adopted her. After all what decent killer would stop to help an injured dog? But as badly as she wants to accept his friendship and believe he is innocent she can't allow him to get entangled in her complicated life. But he's a persistent bugger, especially when he realizes how much she means to him and that she's in trouble, and he won't leave her knowing she's in danger. But his refusal to leave and his search to find the root of her fears may put her in even greater danger. He knows he is in way over his head but his heart won't let him give up until the mystery of her past is solved.

DREAMS OF YOU is an original story of soul mates and the possibility of true love overcoming any obstacle. The plot sometimes relies heavily on coincidence and there were a couple of implausibilities (like the hero passing so easily for a homeless guy with a little stubble and some dirty clothes and the heroine remaining unhardened by life on the streets) but what the heck? This is fiction and I like the idea of a man, despite all odds, who's willing to risk everything, even the love of the woman he's lost his heart to, in order to save her life. And honestly I can't resist a man who loves dogs. Tina Wainscott sure knows how to create a hero to fall for!

4.0 out of 5 stars A unique tale of romance, July 3, 2005
This review is from: Dreams of You (Mass Market Paperback)
"DREAMS OF YOU" is a wonderfully written contemporary romance with a touch of the paranormal aspect. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. There are no red herrings, and no mystery, but it does have suspense and intrigue wrapped with a tale of a man's devotion to protect the woman he feels an overwhelming connection to. I wouldn't rank this book as one of the better ones, but it isn't bad. The characters just didn't touch me enough, but I did enjoy the book. I recommend checking it out from the library though.
