The book was as wonderful as I had hoped. Their directions are broken down into sections and easy to follow. The book states that you can print your own patterns, however if you wish to have the 17"x11" that is not easy, as most printers won't hold over 8 1/2" wide paper. I wasn't able to find a local place to print for me so I ordered two of the prints on fabric from a stateside distributor and can't wait to get them. I have been buying DMC floss, and feel it will still be lovely work. I'm excited, you can do as little or much embroidery as you like with patterns like this. I'm anxious to take some of my own photos and give it a try.

This is a beautiful book. It has a lot of beautiful fabric artwork and clear instructions. It gave me a lot of inspirational ideas I incorporated into pieces of my own. I was able to add ribbon embroidery to my landscape quilt as central pieces of interest and got a lot of compliments by combining these two techniques.

Chapter 1. How to transfer the images into fabrics provide info on where to purchase designs printed on fabric. This is a seprate purchase in addition to the book. These designs are larger than a regular piece of paper. I however avoided the extra cost by enlarging the design and printing it on separate pieces of fabric and then combining the fabrics on a larger fabric which served as foundation.

Chapter 2. Materials required: ribbons, threads, needles, backing fabric, hoops, framing.

I like very much this book because I think it is the best in ilustrations and informations about ribbon embroidery, you can imagine other applications to various stitches on it. It is my fave book from Di van Niekerk .

This is a wonderful book for inspiration and ideas, but not for actual projects. I have been reliably told by a needlework vendor that to order any of the sheets for the stumpwork or any of the thread packs can cost anywhere from $200 to $600 because they come from South Africa and the exchange rate is a killer and they are expensive, even there. However, I have a project that I want to use the techniques that are demonstrated and I found the book very useful.

Great book, lots of ideas and inspiration. Diana has made it interesting to read and the instructions are easy to follow. I'm sure I will refer to it often.
