Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

In Dreamspeak Rosemary Ellen Guiley helps readers understand how dreams can be a nightly conduit to the unconscious or even higher self. The author of Dreamwork of the Soul has already proven herself to be a trustworthy and articulate guide in matters of the dream world. Here, instead of taking a dream dictionary approach (offering short, pat paragraphs beside each symbol that arise in a dream), Guiley's narrative discusses dream themes and what the unconscious is trying to convey. In the chapter about "Sex, Marriage and Weddings," she notes that "after the will to live, the sex drive is the most powerful force in life: thus, it's not surprising that sex colors most of our dreams." Even so, she assures readers that shocking sexual dreams can simply be innocent metaphors for passionate longings we have about many things in life other than an erotic partner. Within each chapter Guiley helps readers interpret the theme or mood of the dream, such as "Thwarted or Interrupted Sex" (something is interfering with the intimate bond between partners) or "Prostitutes and Other Women" (women may be dreaming about their own repressed sexuality). Guiley's reassuring and in- depth discussions create a rewarding and valuable resource for readers who long to dialog with the inner self through the rich, interpretive language of "dreamspeak." --Gail Hudson

More About the Author

I work fulltime investigating and writing about all things paranormal, which means I lead a most unusual and highly adventurous life. I have written more than 45 books, including single-volume encyclopedias, on a variety of topics, A-Z, angels to zombies and everything in between. I'm interested in the entire spectrum of the paranormal, for everything fits together. I go off in the field to investigate reports of ghosts, UFOs, aliens, ultraterrestrials, Shadow People, Bigfoot, mysterious creatures, Djinn, demons, angels, fairies and more. I am frequently out on the road, and I've had plenty of first-hand experiences of many of the things I document in my books. My work is part of my spiritual journey; probing into the Unknown, the Other Side, and other dimensions is my search for Truth.
