This book gives an interpretation first hand of what life for the aboriginies was like under the pressure of white society. Also, it tells its readers about the Aboriginies' explainations for how the world was created and what different things like the Southern Cross are. Have some respect.

While Oodgeroo's stories can be interesting,it's Bronwyn Bancroft's wonderful illustrations that make this book a must for the bookshelf.

I never get tired of looking at these beautiful pictures.

A treasure for young and old alike.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dreamtime: Aborginal Stories (Hardcover)
If i had been able to easily find the works of Oodgeroo noonucal in Australia I would have bought the book from within the country but amazingly a book about the aboriginal dreamtime turned up in a Buckinghamshire library (ex shelves ) from where i purchased it. t tThe whole procedure was .totally painless Iregistered with Amazon paid for the book (which I love)and received it within 10days of notification of the order. I would recommend this method of purchase to everybody. AS FOR THE BOOK ITSELF it is a beautifully illustrated book about the aboriginal dreamtime (thats aboriginal legends explaining happenings in nature such as creation) plus stories about Oodgeroos own early life . Iwould recommend this book to anybody.

I didn't like how it was so vivid in discribing the rituals of the dreamtime it was not for weak tummies.
