I pre-ordered the book right after purchasing Dreamweaver CS5.5 (my first exposure to Dreamweaver). In the five weeks that followed I created a pretty good web site--without the Missing Manual.

Within the first 38 pages, the author earned the purchase price! Knowing just a few of the few things he brings out at the beginning would've saved me hours and hours of fiddling around trying to figure these same things out--which I was only able to do because I had a little prior knowledge of HTML.

I can't wait to get deeper into the MM and learn how to use CS5.5 to its full potential!

I recently upgraded from DW CS3 to CS5.5 and bought this book to get a understand the new tools and tricks. Turns out, that this version of the book is mostly a cut and paste of the previous version. For example I was looking for CSS3 and HTML 5 specifics available in this version of DW and the book either quickly glossed over them or mentioned that they were newer standards and still evolving and thus wrote very little on these topics. In my opinion this truly is a Missing Manual, there is not much new in this book at all while the DW product has evolved considerably.

If you never used a Missing Manual, there is a lot here to get value from. In my opinion, it's out of date and has not been updated.

I find this book easy to read with lots of examples and pictures to go along with the text. There are also tutorials built into each chapter which give you a chance to try out what you've been reading about. The writing is entertaining and not dry to read. I have an older version of Dreamweaver so am not new to the program but wasn't really using it much so pretty much needed to start from scratch. I am also not a professional programmer but do web design for my church so am not a total novice. I would highly recommend this book.

If you're a novice with a little background and you want to be a pro this book will do it. If you have dual
monitors it's the perfect combination for learning. It's a lot of stuff to cover, some you can highlight to
come back to when needed, but you won't be left lacking. When you're done you'll have it all.

The title is perfect for the contents. The size of the book is a bit intimidating at first glance but you can skip around and learn what you wish without having to continue from the previous chapter. The phased learning concept lets you concentrate a single subject at a time without a lot of peripheral study. Great book, Thanks

This book is a constant reference for me and I use Dreamweaver every day . Adobe should include this with their product (considering what you have to pay for their software ). If you have never used Dreamweaver this book will have you up and running in short order, if like me you use Dreamweaver every day you will still refer back to it constantly.. Great book !!!

I checked out a lot of different options when it came to learning how to use Dreamweaver CS5.5 and finally settled on The Missing Manual as my learning choice after reading reviews and doing some investigation. This was the first time I'd used a TMM product and I found it extremely user friendly, well organized and structured, and the tutorials included practical and easy to use and reuse examples as a way to get comfortable with what Dreamweaver is capable of. I hadn't used DW for over a decade so while a few things were still familiar from that far back, much of it was not and the TMM assumed nothing and was perfect as a step-by-step guide on learning the ins and outs of this latest version of Dreamweaver. After spending two weeks reading and working through the tutorials, I was able to completely rebuild my own website using CSS (something I had never worked with before) and HTML along with advanced Java Spry features without any issues. Well worth the money and the time it takes to read and work through it. The Advanced sections provide insight into PHP and dynamic data-base driven websites as well and that provided enough of a touchstone for me to identify what additional information I needed to research and investigate to take advantage of those features and capability as well.
