Tips and Recommendations

Recommended speed settings above

  • Use the sides of the cutter (Rather than the tip) for effective cutting
  • Use higher speeds for hard woods, slower speeds for metals

High Speed Cutters

Carving Soft Materials

Available in many shapes, high speed cutters are used in carving, cutting and slotting in wood, plastics and soft metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass. These are the accessories to use for freehand routing or carving in wood or plastic and for precision cutting. Made with high quality steel. 1/8" shank.

Structured Tooth Tungsten Carbide Cutters

Carving Soft Materials

Fast-cutting sharp teeth for greater material removal with minimum loading. Use on fiberglass, wood, plastic, epoxy, rubber, laminates, particle board and ceramic tile. 1/8" shank.

  • Fiberglass
  • Wood
  • Plastic
  • Epoxy
  • Rubber
  • Laminates
  • Particle Board
  • Ceramic Tile
Tips and Recommendations

Recommended speed settings above

  • Use higher speeds for hard woods, slower speeds for metals and very slow speeds for plastics (to avoid melting at the point of contact). If chattering occurs, increase speed.
  • Do not use this cutter for drilling holes or for enlarging holes that are less than twice the diameter of the cutter. The tungsten carbide surface can easily catch the side of a hole and break the bit.

Tungsten Carbide Cutters

Carving Hard Materials

These are tough, long-lived cutters for use on hardened steel, fired ceramics and other hard materials. They can be used for engraving on tools and garden equipment. 1/8" shank.

  • Cast Iron
  • Nonferrous Metals

Engraving cutters

Engraving Soft Materials

This group has a wide variety of sizes and shapes, and are made for intricate work on ceramics, wood carvings, jewelry and scrimshaw. They often are used in making complicated printed circuit boards. They should not be used on steel and other very hard materials but are excellent on wood, plastic and soft metals. 1/8" shank.

I purchased this after I received a Dremel tool from my father but it had no bits. I have used this a few times now (while using the cutting base) to make recessed notches to place 1/4" plywood sheets onto shelves. Cuts well and I have not had any problems yet.

Excellent product, easy to use with any Dremel set and great for channeling small aluminum stock. Needed a tool the deepen the channel on an aluminum hand guard for my AR piston rod so that it would have a better top clearance when the hand guard was positioned over the piston shaft. The Dremel tool did it's job and saved me a lot of grinding work.

Clean, fast cutting on metal. I had to cut an aluminum alloy about 4mm thick. No issue.

A must-have for anyone cutting metals in their shop.

Highly recommended.

It works well on the aluminum parts we use it on. It does not get the material clogged up in the teeth.

Picked this up to just barely shave out the hinges on a door that needed justttttttt a bit more clearence to close properly after i pulled it off to paint the house and the door.

Shaving 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch deep the three hinges destroyed this bit twice over. Barely finished (bought 2 bits). Not what I would call high-grade steel (ran bit in dremel with routing attachment tip to control depth at recommended speed). Bought a 3rd bit (the reviews were so inspiring!) and nicked a screw that had broken off and been covered apparently, which damaged the bit (not the bits fault in my opinion, but after the first 2 were destroyed by the door routing, and the 3rd by a rogue screw, I lost faith).

With a .40 step over on a mini desktop cnc such as Shapeoko 2, this little cutter will fly mill your work surface if your speed and feed are 400 and 100 with .40 depth. I use these expendable bits to mill off a level surface before any work to the stock is done. I get about 4' sq. Ft. of surface milling before retiring these bits to the rotozip. You can extend life by reducing step over to 20% (.20) and then go mow the lawn, talk to neighbors... They work good, but they don't tolerate impatient people.

This thing is very sturdy and solid, my black and decker RX-3 rotary has no problem gripping it and the dremel bit has no problem cutting through plastic and wood. I have not yet tried it on metal.

Works decent. A little difficult to control. I can't speak to the endurance, we just used it to countersink some weights on a pinewood derby car
