5.0 out of 5 stars Best buy for the buck and best warranty
I did alot of research and comparison to all the brands and hands down this was the best buy for the buck. It performs great, easy to change blades, tension lever up front and easy to adjust. Noise level is acceptable, the Dewalt maybe up one here, but your paying over twice as much. If doing over would buy the same dremel again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
Interested in trying Intarsia I decided to start small. For the price I knew I was not purchasing a world class scroll saw but was hoping for something better than entry level.
Cutting 1/2" bass for ornaments, with "name" blades was problematic.
Blade changing is at best clumsy, frustrating! Any attempts to do fretwork with this saw would cause one to give up...

I mounted solid to a bench and laid a thin rubber mat under it and bolted down secure and has no excessice viberation. If I could change anything on the machine it would be to have a 20" or 22" throat. Don't let peoples comments of hard to change blades, noisey, viberates, loud, cheap...all Bogus. Its a Great Machine! Love it. Robert

5.0 out of 5 stars Dremel Scrollsaw 1830, June 9, 2008
This review is from: Dremel 1830 120V 18-Inch Scroll Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
Wow! Is this a good saw? It fast and accurate. It's easy to use and it rotates 90 degrees for long cuts. The saw blade holder/changer is simple and effective. It's quick as I always have to do interior cuts. It says it's 18" deep but it is really 20... Great saw!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value Scroll Saw, January 2, 2008
This review is from: Dremel 1830 120V 18-Inch Scroll Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this saw with the 20% discount. There is some vibration but with a rubber sanding mat underneath it, it performs very well. What do you want for under $200. If your a professional who will use this saw everyday, buy the dewalt scroll saw and go away. For the home DIY, this saw is decent quality at a decent price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool, April 5, 2009
This review is from: Dremel 1830 120V 18-Inch Scroll Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a great tool. Bought it for $129 at H.D.
Contrary to negative reviews, it is smooth, reliable and solid. I have had it for a year, with heavy use, no problems.

If I could I would return it but since it is not broken I am destined to keep it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good tool which could have been great., April 11, 2008
This review is from: Dremel 1830 120V 18-Inch Scroll Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is actually a nice tool. I own a Dremel 1610 which unfortunately met its fate due to a flooded basement. This was my replacement. The tool is nice except for one thing. The table insert is not ridged enough. It is way too easily bent, and was never really perfectly flat. This is especially bad when it comes to cutting intricate cuts or small objects. I was a bit disappointed to see that this model did not include a stand or a light as my 1610 did, but most saws don't, so no big deal. If this saw had a better table insert, I would give it a 5 star rating for a tool in this price point. P.S. I did not find the tool to have too much vibration (as a matter of fact, I have been able to do all of my cutting without even clamping the saw down-it is just sitting on a wooden workbench), clumsy blade changes, overly loud, or have any problem with the dust blower as others have stated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Scroll saw, February 6, 2010

Dremel lives up to it's legacy for nice precise products.
This saw works great especially with sharp blades. Add a light for visibility and a blower or vac to keep things clean and it is first rate!

Several years ago I worked with a friend using his "brand new budget priced" saw, I recall it was very hard to make clean cuts even with new blades. Could of been the wood or that the blades he had were not meant for that wood.

I paid a little more for this saw but it is now 10 years later, Couldn't be more pleased with it.

Purchased it to cut a pine wood derby car. When the saw arrived I made several test cuts on rough 2x4 material, until I knew I could cut nice clean lines. Cutting the Pinewood Derby car blank was like cutting butter!

I could of paid more but don't think I would of gotten a better saw for my purposes.

Before ordering it I read a bad review for this same saw on another site. That reviewer needed a band saw for their project not a scroll saw!

When I ordered this saw off of Amazon, I used the free shipping option, and expected it to take the advertised week+ from Georgia (I think was the location). Boy was I shocked to check the Tracking number and find that it was already on truck for delivery to my house 2 days after ordering!

Personally my only Complaint is not having enough time in the shop to use it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Saw!, December 20, 2011
This review is from: Dremel 1830 120V 18-Inch Scroll Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this saw on sale to replace an old Craftsman scroll saw that I used for years. Wow! What a difference! This saw takes both pin and no pin blades, and are so easy to change. I love the easy tension adjustment. The speed control is a must for cutting 1/8" baltic birch clock teeth (cut really slow) The weight of the saw keeps it from jumping around like my old scroll saw. I'm really enjoying my wood gear clock project and cutting with #1 reverse-tooth super fine blades! I have to give this awesome saw 5 stars!

you try to find parts for it. From what I can find it has been discontinued. I am looking for a simple air hose, no luck

1.0 out of 5 stars Dremel scroll saw shortcomings, February 12, 2009
This review is from: Dremel 1830 120V 18-Inch Scroll Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have sent my Dremel scroll saw back for repairs for the second time--same problem both times. It simply self-destructs. All of a sudden it makes a loud hammering sound for no apparent reason. The tech. said it was the eccentric which makes the arm go up and down. Anyhow, Never again will I buy a Dremel produce. Although they repair the things free it is still not worth the hassle and expense of sending it back (two times at $24.00 a pop my expense. I will sell this one and buy something that will work.
