2.0 out of 5 stars Dremel
In my opinion, the tool is great for small tasks, but the quality is somewhat to be desired. In just one year I have went thru 3 of these tools and in my opinion its the variable speed switch that was defective. The tools always went bad when I needed it most. Ill go shoppin for some other tool next time.

This review is from: Dremel 3956-01 MultiPro Variable Speed Super Kit with Flexible Shaft (Tools & Home Improvement)
The variable speed Moto-Tool is the only way to fly for working with fired & unfired ceramics, precious and alloy metals, plastics, and wood. The speed adjustment ensures proper cutter control while not damaging the workpiece.

The flex shaft increases this tool's versatility ten fold! With it, you can work in areas that were obstructed for the Moto-Tool au natural.

The abundance of other accessories (router attachment, drill press, cutting accessories) makes this a tool that you can build a good economical workshop around.

You'll be surprised and amazed in just how often you will use it!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great Dremel rotary tool, June 26, 2000
This review is from: Dremel 3956-01 MultiPro Variable Speed Super Kit with Flexible Shaft (Tools & Home Improvement)
I was pleasantly surprised to find out it had a 5 year warranty instead of 2. Now instead of the 175+ Uses book, they (Dremel) have substitued a NEW "Tools for the Imagination", which is pretty handy and has some good illustrations and examples of how to do many projects and a list of what accessory to use. I am excited about all of the things I can do around the house and how much the Dremel will make things easier to do since I now have the right tool.

This tool is what I use to keep my other power tools in good shape. With its array of attachments, the Multi-Pro reaches into all the tight places to clean and sharpen fast and effectivly. It's also great for cutting jobs in close quarters where larger power tools won't fit, like under sinks, between rafters and floor joists, and inside walls. I especially like using it to cut off nails and screws flush in hard to reach places. I rely on the Multi-Pro quite a bit for the remodeling and small repair work that I do. I plan on buying the flexi-shaft attachement to make it even more versatile. For the best results, always remember to be patient with this tiny workmate and make several passes at the material you are cutting, a little at a time, rather than just one big push.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but ......., April 17, 2001

After purchasing the Dremel 56 tool accessory kit, i found that the tool was very useful, but when drilling it bogged down. If Dremel put more torque, it would be a masterpiece. I returned it and got the Black and Decker RTX, same rpm's with twice as much torque and twice as much POWER!

For a while when ever I was at my local Woodworking store I would glance at the rotary tools thinking about someday buying one. I especially liked this set. Well one year I had to come up with a last minute item for my Birthday/Christmas List and I mentioned how I had been looking at rotary tools. I specified two companies. Well on one of the two days I opened a nice long box and sure enough enclosed within it was a 3956 Dremel Multipro Superkit. If I had purchased it myself this is what I would have purchased because the 225 Flex Shaft is within it. These two combined can prove useful when you are flat on your back drilling holes in the back side of the panel at the rear of the kneehole on a fully loaded computer desk hanging stuff for organizing it. HEck my dad and I even used my Multipro and the Flex shaft while replacing a section of plywood in our kitchen to clean up one edge. Man did it wear down the ol 426 thankfully I had plenty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dremel does it again!, June 3, 2002

This review is from: Dremel 3956-01 MultiPro Variable Speed Super Kit with Flexible Shaft (Tools & Home Improvement)
I still have my 10-year-old Dremel tool but I wanted this one because it goes up to 35,000 rpm. And is it sweet! I like the soft grip body because it is more comfortable to hold and doesn't slip when my hands get sweaty. The faster speeds make the cuts smoother when I use the routing bits.

I also like the way Dremel keeps coming out with new bits to keep the tool versatile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice tool but I'm not surprised, May 17, 2002

I bought this tool as a gift because of the Flex Shaft and all of the enclosed accessories. I own two Dremels and they have stood up to everything I can throw at them. The person I got the tool for is an artist and uses the tool for carving wood and plastic. She was very happy to receive this tool as a present and it makes me happy knowing that she uses it every day.

I mentioned to my mother ONCE that I wanted this...and so I was stunned when I got it for Christmas! I use it for everything from clockmaking, to cleaning and refinishing antique jewellery and the like. Everything... literally everything. There are so many more attachments to get!... The "flex shaft" is a necessity for me, at least. So I reccommend buying this "super kit" which comes with that flex shaft. ...

2.0 out of 5 stars Variable Speed Switch cause of Malfunction, February 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Dremel 3956-01 MultiPro Variable Speed Super Kit with Flexible Shaft (Tools & Home Improvement)
This Dremel was great when it worked. I had the same problems that I see many others have had. The variable speed switch was not designed well and the tool is rendered useless after a few weeks of light usage. The tool was sent in for warranty repair 2 weeks ago, still waiting.
