4.0 out of 5 stars Dremel EZ Lock Abrasive Buffs
The EZ Lock works great and is fast to install. Initial cost of spindle adds to cost, but can be used for other applications. The abrasive buffs are not as aabrasive as I had hoped for, but do the job taking a little longer. They are more for polish than real abrasive as the "Buffs" might imply. 3.0 out of 5 stars Tried sanding wood only
I needed to sand the inside of a routered groove on several things I built. When I saw this I thought it would be great for sanding where the router bit fuzzed up the grain. It worked but wore out so quickly I can't afford to use them for all I have to do. It may work great with other applications.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finishing Wheels, July 16, 2009

They Work as designed (WAD). Just like sanding, let the tool do the work. Digging in may buff slightly faster but the wheeels will wear out twice as fast. The EZ lock works well and the buffer are great for small jobs.

these buffing wheels do the job, they get into all those little cracks and smooth them out. But the material on the wheel wears out exceedingly fast. To give an example: I fashioned a 1 1/2 x 1 inch ladybug for a neclace pendant. These wheels put the finishing touches on the pendant beautifully, but they both were used up and I was left with a small silver round thing and a shank. If they weren't so expensive, I'd give them a five-star rating. But using these buffs will be expensive. Otherwise, I can't do without my Dremel tool, most versatile tool in the shop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Make your own?, October 10, 2010
This review is from: Dremel 511E EZ Lock Coarse Grit and Medium Grit Finishing Abrasive Buffs, 2-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've cut circular sections of 'Scotch-Brite' abrasive scouring pads and attached them to the cutting wheel mandrel (the one with the screw). It works for cleaning a grill. I ran it at 24,000 rpm with out a problem. They do wear out quickly, but are incredibly cheap.

I haven't tried steel wool, but plan to in the future. Make sure you wear eye protection. I don't know what speeds these non-demel approved materials can withstand. Use at your own risk I guess.

One drawback of the 'Scotch-Brite' pads is that the hardened scouring portion is only on the face and back of the wheel, not on the edge. But it does work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wears out too quick, November 27, 2009
This review is from: Dremel 511E EZ Lock Coarse Grit and Medium Grit Finishing Abrasive Buffs, 2-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I thought these would be great for taking the fuzz off some carvings I made with my Carvewright machine. They begin to work but wear out so quickly that you end up using several for one job. That adds too much cost to the project. I could make it work if they were around $1 each, but not at this price. I still have not found the perfect accessory to smooth these carvings.

These abrasive buffs work great with cleaning some old motorcycle parts that I need to get into a tight area's. The quick change feature also helps with the process.

I use these buffs on almost every furniture refinishing and craft project I do. Nothing I've tried works as well in so many different applications. For some crazy reason, these buffs are hard to find in our local retail stores this past year and I've only been able to buy them online. If that's the only way I can get them, I'll do it..but I hope it's not a sign that Dremel is thinking of discontinuing them..In my opinion, that would be a real shame and hard to find something as useful.

2.0 out of 5 stars save your money, August 17, 2011
This review is from: Dremel 511E EZ Lock Coarse Grit and Medium Grit Finishing Abrasive Buffs, 2-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased both the abrasive buffs and the larger kit of sanding devices. These lasted less than 5 minutes of careful, less-than-full-speed work. The spindle works ok but not the buffs themselves.

best way to remove epoxy grout from tile and stone without scratching. however you have to buy a bunch of these, since they wear out extremely quickly.
