    From the Manufacturer

    Metal Cutting

    Cut-Off Wheels

For slicing and cutting metal and limited use on wood and plastics. Cut-off wheels make it easy to cut or slot bolts, screws, sheet metal, thin wood and plastic. The cut-off wheel cuts only along its edge; do not attempt to sand or cut curved holes with them. Use with the 402 Mandrel.

    Fiberglass Reinforced Cut-Off Wheels

These cut-off wheels are reinforced with fiberglass for increased durability. For slicing and cutting metal including hardened steel. Cut-off wheels make it easy to cut bolts or screws or make slots in rusted or stripped bolts and screws for removal with a screwdriver. Use with the 402 Mandrel.

    426B is a pack of 20 426 wheels.

    Premium Metal Cutting Wheel

The 506CU cutting wheel features a super abrasive grit called cubic boron nitride or CBN. CBN used on a cut-off wheel allows the wheel to remain sharp longer, stay cool, and it won’t shrink. The 506CU cutting wheel lasts at least 20 times longer than our fiberglass-reinforced cutting wheels based on internal testing. In addition, with the Dremel premium metal cutting wheel you will spend less time changing wheels, save space storing replacement wheels and save money buying replacement wheels. Use with the 402 Mandrel.

    Metal Cutting - EZ Lock

EZ Lock Thin Cut Reinforced Cut-Off Wheel

The EZ409 is a reinforced cut-off wheel ideal for making thin cuts in metal. It makes 2X more cuts compared to the Dremel 409. Use with the EZ402 Mandrel. 5 wheels per pack.

    EZ Lock Reinforced Cut-Off Wheels

These EZ Lock Cut-Off Wheels are great for making cuts in metal. They make 2X more cuts then their regular counterpart (EZ426CU vs. 420 and EZ456 vs. 426). Use with the EZ402 Mandrel.

    EZ406 includes 1 EZ402 Mandrel and 5 EZ456 wheels.

EZ426CU and EZ456 include 5 wheels per pack.

    EZ456B is pack of 12 EZ456 wheels.

EZ Lock Premium Metal Cutting Wheel

The EZ506CU cutting wheel features a super abrasive grit called cubic boron nitride or CBN. CBN used on a cut-off wheel allows the wheel to remain sharp longer, stay cool, and it won’t shrink. The 506CU cutting wheel lasts at least 20 times longer than our fiberglass-reinforced cutting wheels based on internal testing. Use with the EZ402 Mandrel.

Wood, Plastic and Hard Material Cutting

    Wood Cutting Wheels

Dremel 543 and EZ544 are both carbide cutting wheels for cutting and shaping on woods, fiberglass, plastics and laminates. Do not use them on metals. For 543 the mandrel is included; for EZ544 use the EZ402 Mandrel.

Dremel 546 Rip/Crosscut Blade is a long-lasting, mini circular blade that cuts both with and across the grain on wood and wood-like materials. It is designed to be used only in conjunction with the Dremel 670 Mini Saw Attachment. Therefore, no mandrel is used.

    Plastic Cutting Wheels

The EZ476 is a reinforced cut-off wheel ideal for making clean cuts in plastics. Use with the EZ402 Mandrel. 5 wheels per pack.

    Hard Materials Cutting Wheels

Dremel 545 and EZ545 are both diamond wheels great for cutting, sawing and carving hard materials; such as, marble, concrete, brick, porcelain, ceramics, hard epoxy and soft and hard wood. Do not use them on metals. For 545 use the 402 Mandrel (included); for EZ545 use the EZ402 Mandrel.

Drywall, Multipurpose, Tile and Grout Cutting Bits

    Drywall Cutting Bit: 560

The Dremel 560 gives you fast, clean cuts in drywall.

Use with the Dremel Multipurpose Cutting Attachment (model 565).

    Multipurpose Cutting Bit: 561

The Dremel 561 cuts hard wood up to 3/8" and soft wood up to 5/8". Also cuts plastics, fiberglass, drywall, laminate, aluminum and vinyl siding.

Use with the Dremel Multipurpose Cutting Attachment (model 565).

    Tile Cutting Bit: 562

The Dremel 562 cuts ceramic wall tiles, cement board, and plaster.

Not for use on floor tiles.

Use with the Dremel Tile Cutting Attachment (model 566).

Carbide Grout Removal Bits: 569 and 570

The Dremel 569 and 570 are ideal for replacing wall and floor grout or removing grout to replace broken tiles.

Use with the Dremel Grout Removal Attachment (model 568).

    Tips and Recommendations

    EZ Lock System

The Dremel EZ Lock makes accessory changes as easy as PULL - TWIST - RELEASE. The one-piece mandrel design simplifies the process of changing cutting wheels.

I opted to pick this bit up online instead of hitting the local stores. The price was also a deciding factor. The price was 10% less on Amazon as well. I use this bit primarily to cut patterns into terracotta pots and it works perfectly.

I work with plastics and aluminum a lot.

I've discovered that this bit is great for punching small holes, grinding inside-edges to precision-shapes and rounding outside corners. I use a battery-powered rotary tool, hold it like a pencil and gently carve into the materials.

If you're a computer case-modder, you may find it an indispensable aid.

Beware that plunging the spinning bit quickly into plastic may generate enough heat to lock it in. The trick is to take your time and carve away a little bit at a time and if you're drilling a hole with it, to use a slow in-out motion.

The bit grinds rather than cuts. Cutting a 3" notch in a piece of porcelin tile took about 30 minutes. Very tedious. I would think there are better alternatives.

The tool is sharp and strong but easy to burn if you push too hard or cut for too long. It will last much longer if you can apply water to the cut as you work.

While this bit did cut my ceramic tile, it would have taken all day to cut on 12x12 tile. Use a wet saw or grinder instead. I will keep this in my Dremel case ,but it will be collecting dust.

So far, I used this to shave a quarter inch off one wall tile. I ran the Dremel with bit along the edge a few times and it worked perfectly. Had to go gently since the bit will cut deep and fast. Great product!

Dremel qualifies this product by saying you should not cut ceramic floor tile, I tried it anyway since it was the only option and it worked ok. This is mainly for trimming so if you have large cuts to do look for another method.
