I Don't Use It the Way You Might Expect...,

This review is from: Dremel 562 Tile Cutting Bit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I work with plastics and aluminum a lot.I've discovered that this bit is great for punching small holes, grinding inside-edges to precision-shapes and rounding outside corners. I use a battery-powered rotary tool, hold it like a pencil and gently carve into the materials. If you're a computer case-modder, you may find it an indispensable aid. Beware that plunging the spinning bit quickly into plastic may generate enough heat to lock it in. The trick is to take your time and carve away a little bit at a time and if you're drilling a hole with it, to use a slow in-out motion.

I opted to pick this bit up online instead of hitting the local stores. The price was also a deciding factor. The price was 10% less on Amazon as well. I use this bit primarily to cut patterns into terracotta pots and it works perfectly.

So far, I used this to shave a quarter inch off one wall tile. I ran the Dremel with bit along the edge a few times and it worked perfectly. Had to go gently since the bit will cut deep and fast. Great product!

The tool is sharp and strong but easy to burn if you push too hard or cut for too long. It will last much longer if you can apply water to the cut as you work.

I had to cut a couple of tiles, and bought this bit. Like the many other reviewers, this bit worked well for the first tile, and basically wore out after a 12' of cutting. At this price point, I really wished the bit would have lasted longer. Would recommend this only for small quick projects.

It's not what I'd expected!,
This review is from: Dremel 562 Tile Cutting Bit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this cutting bits for my bathroom remodeling because the project required curved lines and irregular shapes to be cut. I attached this particular bits to a 'Dramel variable speed' and used them to cut several half-inch backerboards. Each of the bit seemed to perform as expected within the first 15 feet of cutting. After that the bits became dull and did not cut as fast. I also had to watch the equipment because it could get real warm. I also made an attempt to cut 3/8 inch ceramic wall tile and 3/8 inch marble tile. They don't perform well at all. I ended up buying a rod saw (it was a hand saw) with Tungsten carbide grit edge blade to do the job (slow..real slow, but they did cut nicely after I had some practice). One other thing, I burned one of the bit when I tried to cut a hole and had to drill through one of the beckerboard.
