  • Enter your model number above to make sure this fits.
  • Shapes, smooths or grinds especially hard materials including: hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals, fired ceramics, plastics and hard woods.
  • A high-speed cutter made of tungsten carbide, the hardest material next to diamonds.
  • Do not use this cutter for drilling holes or for enlarging holes that are less than twice the diameter of the cutter. The tungsten carbide surface can easily catch the side of a hole and break the bit.
  • For best results, insert the accessory bit all the way into the tool and then back it out slightly before tightening down. This provides plenty of shank for the collet or chuck to hold onto the bit.
  • Secure objects to a stable surface while working.

Tips and Recommendations

Recommended speed settings above

  • Use the sides of the cutter (Rather than the tip) for effective cutting
  • Use higher speeds for hard woods, slower speeds for metals

High Speed Cutters

Carving Soft Materials

Available in many shapes, high speed cutters are used in carving, cutting and slotting in wood, plastics and soft metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass. These are the accessories to use for freehand routing or carving in wood or plastic and for precision cutting. Made with high quality steel. 1/8" shank.

Structured Tooth Tungsten Carbide Cutters

Carving Soft Materials

Fast-cutting sharp teeth for greater material removal with minimum loading. Use on fiberglass, wood, plastic, epoxy, rubber, laminates, particle board and ceramic tile. 1/8" shank.

The tungsten carbide is real strong and slowly cut through a hardened steel bolt that had been rung off. I was trying to dremel out a divot for extracting and the point of this cutter didnt work very well for pressing straight down and i wish i had a more rounded edge for making the divot.

i managed to use this bit to enlarge an extractor relief cut outside of the chamber of a buddy's old stevens twelve gauge. the barrel had been over rotated on installation (reinstallation?), and the relief had been out of alignment, causing the left side extractor to get beat down to the point of fracturing off. after a thorough examination of all other parts, and "red sharpie/prussian blue" checks for contact and interference points, it looked like a little cutting on just the one relief would do it.

it did.

the new extractors (kenny chose to replace all of the springs/components in and on the bolt since it was torn down anyway) glide into their reliefs and function flawlessly.

this was the less painful alternative to unthreading the now staked barrel (seriously, somebody decided it was a good idea to stake the thing once it had been over rotated by a couple of degrees), and now kenny aims down the right side of the bead- he wants to chop a couple of inches off the thirty inch barrel anyway, so a new (properly placed) bead will be in the works before long.

it's kind of shadetree, but it's sound, and an old beat up stevens will likely never be more than a knock around twelve, so we opted for the path of least expensive resistance.

this dremel tungsten carbide 9909 is a great bit for tight spaces- i could not have done this work without it.
