5.0 out of 5 stars Scroll Saw Worker
I highly recommend this tool attachment. I am scroll sawing very fine lines and need to drill with a #72 drill bit. This drill press attachment used with the Dremel #395 tool and the keyless chuck makes it a breeze. It keeps the hole straight and is very easy to place the bit on the exact spot.

I purchased one of these to make my dremel into a drill press for wood - mostly softwood and it has been a terrible experience. The collars that attach the tool do not allow for perfect square alignment and the dremel many times cant seat a bit so there is no wobble. I was disappointed with this tool. I found that MicroMark makes a small hobby drill press (as well as other great tools) that is sturdy, reliable and excellent. It maycost more then the dremel but you do get what you pay for.

2.0 out of 5 stars A clunky accessory for a great tool, August 3, 2001
This review is from: Dremel 212 Moto-tool Drill Press Stand # (Misc.)
What's the real value of a Dremel? Fine work. (If I need to drill a big hole, I use a big drill.) I use the Dremel with fine drill bits to drill very small holes. That's when I need the steadiness a drill press provides. But the Dremel drill press attachment has way too much play in its various parts and consistently snaps off fine drill bits. My 8" Delta drill press has less play. For now, the Dremel drill press attachment awaits my next garage sale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making Dremel more versatile, turn it into a drill press!, October 18, 2000

The Dremel Drill Press Attachment makes your Dremel tool more versatile by turning it into a mini drill press. The attachment allows you to drill holes and do other precise work without the worry of 'going crooked' as you are working. The attachment keeps the tool lined up and allows you to control it with one hand. The handle allows complete control just like a large drill press. Of course, this is using a Dremel tool and should not be considered a replacement for a large drill press. I highly recommend this attachment and find it very useful for smaller projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't know what I'd do without it, June 21, 2002

I like my Dremel drill press for working on jewelery and hobby projects. It fits my new Dremel tool perfectly and Dremel includes several adapter rings to use older style Dremels in the press as well. How many companies make it easy to use their outdated tools? My older Dremel fits fine in the press when I use the adapter. The Drill Press also holds the tool horizontally so that I can use the tool like a bench grinder.

3.0 out of 5 stars useful but not for fine work, December 5, 2004
This review is from: Dremel 212 Moto-tool Drill Press Stand # (Misc.)
I bought this as a cheap alternative to a drill press (I already have a Dremel). It is useful for most rough work, but cannot be used for fine work since the column is an aluminium tube and the tool holder is plastic - there is too much yield in the structure. By fine I mean, if you need to drill a hole within less than 1/32 inch of a marked location.

The press also has a little (mysterious) sideways play that I could not get rid of by any amount of tightening.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for hobbies or smaller projects., October 21, 2002

I too enjoy assembling R/C kits, and I find this tool useful for that purpose. In fact, I first learned about this dremel "attachment" when I saw it at my local hobby shop. I considered buying a "real" 8 inch (table-top) drill press, but I live in an apartment, so stashing it away when not in use was a real issue for me. I settled for the dremel, and it works fine for its intended purpose. Yes, I agree that the casting on the base is pretty lousy, and there is some play in it which could break a smaller diameter bit. But, considering that this is the only good alternative to a bulky drill press, I can live with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for PCB drilling, August 1, 2003
This review is from: Dremel 212 Moto-tool Drill Press Stand # (Misc.)
I bought this attachment for drilling 0.7mm holes on printed circuit boards. It had a little side-play, but rotating the height guide eliminated the problem. I use it with a Black & Decker RTX (yes, it works if you replace the top holding screw with a longer one and force the holding ring a little bit) and the Dremel multi-chuck for holding such small drill bits, and it works great.

I couldn't imagine using a standard 10" drill press with a 1/2" chuck along with 0.7mm (less than 1/32") drill bits, and the drill press adapters for conventional hand drills had WAY too much play.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very nice drill press, June 3, 2002

My Dremel drill press works perfectly for what I bought it for, working on R/C planes and cars. It has the precision required to drill holes in frames, bodies and servos. My wife has used it for drilling jewelery items. I've been a Dremel customer for years and I couldn't be more satisfied.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as useful as I thought, July 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dremel 212 Moto-tool Drill Press Stand # (Misc.)
Attaching the Moto-tool to the unit is very clunky. A removable plastic ring keeps the moto-tool in place. I could see easily losing this little part in the workshop. Once set up, I couldn't find anything I could use a drill press this small for. Instead, I just reach for my regular hand-held drill.
