Book Description

Masters of Horsemanship Series, Bk 1 July 15, 1996
In Germany, this great book has gone through four very successful editions and it's now available in English! Aimed at intermediate and advanced riders, this book offers no shortcuts, but instead a systematic approach built on tried and true principles of training handed down through the ages. There are definitely no shortcuts offered here, but a systematic approach built on tried and true principles of training handed down through the ages. The author leads the reader progressively to the higher levels in a logical and often witty approach. Excellent line drawings clarify and enhance the text, making this one of the most readable books on dressage available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very complete; makes dressage training easy to understand, February 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dressage: A Guidebook for the Road to Success (Masters of Horsemanship Series, Bk 1) (Hardcover)
This book gives a very well organized presentation of how to progressively train a dressage horse. If you have ever wondered how a shoulder-in is different from a haunches-in and why we teach the shoulder-in first, this is your book. Most chapters are organized by exercise, from the easiest (e.g. leg yield) to the most difficult (e.g. piaffe). The chapter on flying changes is especially informative, giving several methods for teaching this movement to the horse and solutions to common problems. Many nice line drawings support the text. This book is short and easy to understand. It would be an excellent reference for the serious dressage rider.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dressage: A Guidebook for the Road to Success (Masters of Horsemanship Series, Bk 1) (Hardcover)
This is honestly the most beneficial book I have ever read on horse training. It is very thorough in strategy and provides practical exercises and diagrams to assist in helping you to understand the purpose behind each movement and technique. I would recommend this to ANY rider at any level to help "connect the dots" in your training!
