5.0 out of 5 stars Know What You Are Getting
Having never seen the movie, I was first exposed to the score from Twenty-seven Dresses through our classical music radio station. This music doesn't qualify as classic, but I find it altogether lovely, unpretentious and a delight to the ear. It brings a little beauty to offset the lurid ear assaults to which so many of us are exposed.

I am editing this...

I am editing this review to let all who read know that I didn't write this review, my wife wrote it. I didn't purchase the CD and have not listened to it in full and take no responsibility for the words written in the preceding paragraph, but since my wife likes it I suppose it must be good.

1.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointed, March 5, 2008
This review is from: 27 Dresses [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
I was so excited when I knew this was going to be released because i absolutely LOVED the movie, but once my order was already en route to my home i discovered the soundtrack wasn't what i expected. I was sadly disappointed to discover that it was only the background music, and not some of the best songs that are actually played throughout the movie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wished I wouldn't have bought the cd, February 7, 2008
This review is from: 27 Dresses [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
The entire soundtrack is instrumental. If I would have known that I would have not bought the cd. I am also disappointed that Benny and the Jets are not on the soundtrack. That was one of the best scenes in the movie. Don't waste your money on this soundtrack.

I just love the score for this film!! When I heard Varese Sarabande was releasing it, I had to get it the moment it came out.

Prior reviews of this have given it only one star and they are not accurate as they all wanted the pop music from the movie. apparently their inabilities to read a track listing led them to buy this CD and then trash it in their reviews.

I was completely shocked when I played this CD. I had just seen the movie, and was so delighted with the various songs that were sung throughout the movie. I received this CD, and it was definitely NOT the soundtrack of the movie at all. I feel the way the CD was advertised was incorrect. How do I return this CD and obtain the songs from the movie?

Why wouldn't you appropriately identify that this CD was NOT the movie soundtrack?

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Score by Randy Edelman that Evokes All of the Warm Goodness From the Movie!, August 16, 2009
This review is from: 27 Dresses [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
What can I say? These 1 star reviews are really weird. If you're not looking for THE SCORE to the film, don't buy it. For those of us out there who know what we're buying, this album is a treat. Edelman's score ranges from the more orchestral feel of 'The Holiday' and 'Nine Months' to the percussive grooves of prog rock (like Yes.)

I can't recommend THIS SCORE enough.

I'm so glad i read the titles of the songs before i ordered it. This is not the soundtrack it is the score.. Big difference.. They are calling it the Soundtrack but that is not what it is.. It is only the Score and nothing more. Be warned and read the titles before you order in the future.

I would not recommend this item. I bought this thinking it was the music from the movie but it turned out to be opera music. I would strongly advise against buying this item
