Nice , with drawbacks, December 12, 2011
I have the all-leather version ,overall this is a nice pair of shoes - here are the details :
Pros :
1- Really deep and you can put in your inserts/cups (I put 2 thick inserts and a heel cup , and shoe is still wearable).
2- High quality material and leather , looks like its gonna hold up well and is comfortable to wear.
Cons :
1- Not really a walking shoe as Drew suggests - really heavy (probably 3-4 times the weight of your average running shoes at 4.4 lbs/pair !).
2- Again , no suitable for walking - if you are a runner/walker , you know that good shoes flex at the middle of the ball of foot - this one does not , the outer sole is too tough and almost stays in one peace. When shoes flex , they are more comfortable for your gait cycle. This is a casual shoe and really not athletic.
3- Seems like a design flaw here - I have the 4E wide size - and the entire shoe (heel-toe) is wide - my heel cups move around like crazy , I have to put some adhesive to keep them in place, while they stay in place in my other shoes - If you have wide feet you know that your heels are not that wide . The width is about correct for mid foot to toe.
4- Wrongly sized ! these are huge for size - I typically wear 11.5 - 12 , wide - I ordered these in size 12 and I think a size 13-14 foot could fit here ! - If I order this again I'd probably get 10.5 .

Very nice walking shoe, August 30, 2011
This review is from: Drew Shoe Men's Surge Walking Shoe (Apparel)
I wanted a sturdy walking shoe that would have a decent amount of insole padding for my comfort-seeking feet. From reviews elsewhere, I was led to the Drew Surge. It is noted for therapeutic use, and many reviewers used them that way. Also, people who stood on their feet for long periods of the day were attracted to it.
The shoe comes with two insoles, both removable. Even with both insoles in, there is roominess at the top. You could probably replace the top insole with a thicker one and still not feel squished. I've been wearing a pair now for about a month every day the entire day. It has a good amount of padding, a nice "step", and the sole is not slippery. I have the black nubuck mesh and it is stylish enough to wear to nice functions. I thought they might have the "old man" look, but they don't. They don't seem to be wearing prematurely, but their durability can't be evaluated yet. Following the buying advice elsewhere, I bought a half-size smaller than my regular size and that was perfect.

best shoes, December 6, 2011
Best fitting shoes that I have bought in years. No brake in needed for these shoes. I work at a hardware store for the summer and am on my feet for 8 hours. These shoes should make my feel much better at the end of the day. I may buy a second pair.
