Not What I Was Looking For, February 21, 2010
This review is from: Drew Shoes Men's Traveler Oxford (Apparel)
I'm going on a trip to Honduras in a week, and I needed a new pair of walking shoes to replace my old pair of New Balances that are falling apart. I have size 13 4E feet, so it's hard for me to find shoes that are wide enough. I haven't ordered "Drew Shoes" before, but I decided to give these a shot because they looked like they might serve double-duty as both a sturdy walking shoe, AND be dressy enough for business meetings and formal events. I try not to check a bag when traveling, and with my big feet an extra pair of dress shoes adds a lot of bulk. In the description, they claim this is what they were going for with the name "Traveler Oxford". The first thing I noticed when I got them out of the box was that to my eyes they looked pretty dorky. With their high sides and boxy shape, they reminded me of some sort of medical orthopedic shoe. This is just according to my own personal aesthetic, of course, someone else might find them beautiful. I'm used to New Balance sizing, and in comparison the Drew's seemed to run a little big. My feet could slide side-to-side AND forward-to-back inside the shoe. I'm not used to finding size 13 shoes that are too big, so if you are ordering a pair you might want to lean toward the smaller sizes. The shoes did come with 2 little inserts for adding arch support or something, I didn't try using them. It's hard for me to imagine that the tiny patch of adhesive on the inserts could effectively hold them in place inside the shoe for very long, but I didn't try it so I can't say. The shoes seem sturdy and well padded, and the leather surface (I got the black ones) looks nice. The thing that was the deal breaker for me was the tread. They are SLICK! The soles are very flat and made of a hard plasticy material. No joke, I actually pulled a Tom Cruise slide across the kitchen floor in these things right out of the box! It's winter here in Minnesota and if I left the house in these I doubt I could stay upright for more than 2 steps. They might be a good pair of work shoes for someone who is on their feet a lot (indoors). When I worked at a grocery store, we were required to wear work shoes kind of like this. I'll be returning these, as this model is definitely not what I was looking for, but it might be right for someone else. I'm rating it 2-stars, because I don't think it matches its description very well and I can't think of too many people who would be looking for this combination of features...and those slippery soles!

heel to big, August 13, 2011
Got the shoes in good time but the heels were too big and allowed my foot to slip. It cost a large amount to send them back. Will not by any more shoes from amazon until they change the return policy.

Great looks - Great fit -- Great comfort!, August 6, 2011
Gorgeous looking shoe!! I received my Drew Traveler shoes within 24 hours of my order, that it crazy fast! Thank you Amazon! I put in my new orthotics from the VA and a perfect fit, they are so very comfortable. I recommend these shoes to all men, as they have an adjustable foot bed, so you can add or remove insoles or slip-in your new orthotics.
