I love this album. There is only one thing about it I don't like. The song "Red, Red Wine" has absolutely nothing to do with luaus, Hawaii, Polynesia or anything tropical. I don't know why they chose to put that on the CD instead of the Hawaii 5-0 Theme Song, Hawaiian Hula Eyes, (Put the Lime in the) Coconut, Day-O (Banana Boat Song), Wipe Out, Limbo Rock, any surfing song or any other song that would be more appropriate. However, all the other songs are wonderful and fitting. It has classics like Aloha Oe, Don Ho's Tiny Bubbles, Elvis' Blue Hawaii and Bali Hai (from the movie "South Pacific"). There are also other well known songs such as Lovely Hula Hands, the Hawaiian War Chant and the Hukilau song. My daughter even recognized a song (Hilo March); she said it's the song they play on SpongeBob Square Pants. Besides those 8, there are another 9 great songs, as well, on this CD.

I lived in Hawaii and have collected a lot of modern Hawaiian music, which is quite different from this collection of what Westerners think of Hawaii. Still, the music is quite good, with some versions, like Aloha Oe, being very different in tempo than traditional. I didn't like some of the boring instrumentals. I bought this album, along with Brother Iz's Facing Future, for my brother when he wanted some musical memories of his visits to Hawaii.
