5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Gluten-free Baking!
This is the only rice flour I have found that consistently gives me the same great results I can get from traditional wheat flour--without any pesky gluten (for those of us with celiac or gluten intolerance). I use this 1 for 1 in all my recipes (with a bit of sorghum to hold it together), and I dare say that it even produces better pastries than some of the best wheat...

1.0 out of 5 stars I like this product, but disgust with the Amazon price
I buy this product all the time at local Asian supermarkets for about $1/lb. I know it is even cheaper in west coast, and when on sale. I can't believe that Amazon charges the same product almost 4 times higher than the retail. It warrants some serious explaination to its customers.

5.0 out of 5 stars This exact item costs only $1 at my local Asian market, September 4, 2010

This product is great. However, I just bought this exact same item (same packaging, etc.) for one dollar for a one pound bag at a local Asian market near me, which is mostly frequented by Thai and Vietnamese people.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good glutenous rice flour, December 4, 2011

I had to butt in a bit because if you just go to a local asian market, or China town, you can find a bag of this for $1 more or less. If you're buying it to make mochi, there is even a box one called "Mochiko" and there is a blue star -- that is the Japanese brand. I actually find that one a lot better for making mochi, but since this one is so inexpensive, I get this one instead. Sometimes I can taste the starch in it much more, but that's could just be me. The boxed one sells for $2-$3 depending on where you are located. This bag is finely ground from glutenous rice, and is really handy to have in stock.

I made mochi with this rice flour. It was the best mochi in the world. Half due to my baking skills, half due to the fine quality of this mochiko rice flour.

This is an unusual (to me) 'cereal'. Based upon the ingrediant list, I was expecting a granola or museli-type of cereal, instead, as described in it's description as a 'pestle' cereal, this is powdered mix. When mixed with boiling water, it makes a thin, greenish-grey slurry.

Turned off yet? Don't be.

It's somewhat unappetizing appearance aside, this is a very pleasant tasting product. I hesitate to call it a cereal, more a beverage. The mix of flavors is novel, complex, yet well balanced, with no dominant flavor that I could identify (perhaps a sesame edge?), slightly sweet but not cloying. I expected a heavy, gritty texture like that found in a protien powder energy shake, but the ingrediants are so finely ground there was little grit, instead, the texture was like a heavy stout beer or a thin pea or cream soup, not watery but with body.

It's not enough to qualify as a hearty breakfast, but as a snack it is satisfying in flavor and quantity.

While I won't make this an everyday food item, I will likely buy it again.

Well worth checking out.
