Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Anyone who has fly-fished from a drift boat knows the potential for a great day while floating downstream--and if the hoppers are happening, it can be downright euphorious. By covering lots of river and getting long, drag-free drifts on the fly, a fly-fisher will frequently hook more fish while watching the scenic beauty of the riparian environment go by. The author of Drift Boat Fly Fishing offers excellent instruction on getting the most out of this mobile form of fly-fishing, with chapters on casting from a drift boat, mending the line, reading the water, and capitalizing on the inherent advantages of fishing from a boat.

Review

Neale Streeks' Drift Boat Fly Fishing: A River Guide's Sage Advice is a very helpful "how-to" book written by a professional river boat fly fishing guide. Drift Boat Fly Fishing is full of excellent river and trout knowledge that should substantially help the reader improve his or her fly fishing success regardless of whether fishing from a boat, wading, or walking the bank. No one knows the river and its trout and their habits better than the observant guide. Aspiring fly fishers will gain a great deal of insight into the sport, and benefit immensely from Neale Streeks' years and expertise on the water. -- Midwest Book Review

5.0 out of 5 stars I fished with him...he knows how to teach, August 5, 2000

Neale is a great teacher and the casting and fish spotting techniques he has in the book are excellent for the beginning and experienced angler. I bought the book after I had spent a day fishing with Neale on the Missouri River out of Wolf Creek Montana. I purchased the book to have a reference for review of a lot of what he taught me that day. He is a great guide and a great teacher. The book is an excellent background if you ever fish from a drift boat. He knows flyfishing and what you need to do to improve your skills.

5.0 out of 5 stars Drift Boat Fly Fishing: A River Guide's Sage Advice, March 25, 2007
This review is from: Drift Boat Fly Fishing: A River Guide's Sage Advice (Paperback)
Excellent, comprehensive, clear and an easy, enjoyable read. Describes an an extensive array of techniques and situations encountered while fly fishing from a drift boat and works through how to apply them to different situations ... casting, line control, how to get long effective drifts with all types of flies, nymphs and streamers ... reading the water, protocol for fishing from front or rear. An excellent source for preparing for a drift boat trip. You'll be prepared for a much more successful trip rather than waiting until you on the water.
