A Drill Bit Sharpener That Really Works!,
By
This review is from: Drill Doctor 250 Drill Bit Sharpener (Misc.)
I saw the Drill Doctor 250 demonstated at a show and when mine came in the mail, I didn't need the video to begin sharpening my piles of dull bits. It is easy and fast. For those that haven't had the advantage of a live demonstration, the free video covers all the bases. Old dull bits are as sharp as brand new in minutes. The unit is compact and well made in the USA.I am a professional woodworker and have an appreciation of well crafted tools. I wish the Drill Doctor could also sharpen my brad points. If they make one that will, I'll buy it as well. In the meantime, as a homeowner and woodworker that frequently puts conventional drills to severe use, I've no doubts that the Drill Doctor will save me time and money. Doug Stowe

Great Sharpner-Great Price!,

The Drill Doctor 250 is one of those few products that deliver performance exactly as advertised! I was able to restore 40 or so dull bits collected over the years (personal problem throwing junk away)! The 250 gave the bits balanced, sharp cutting flukes that hold up well. The new cutting edges have extended life to my cordless drills batteries and reduced project times due to greater efficiency in drilling operations. The video and operation materials are real straight forward and easy to understand. I've used several power tool bit sharpeners, including the old B & D industrial units. They all worked well but at 3 to 4 times the price. Darex has produced a quality product at a real value price for the consumer.

The best drill sharpeners on the market,
By A Customer
This review is from: Drill Doctor 250 Drill Bit Sharpener (Misc.)
Went out and purchased this unit after smoking 1/2 drill bits left and right drilling 1/2" steel plate.Initially I bought another brand of drill sharpener..sucked, brought it back and grapped the drill doctor.Works excellent, fast, very (repeat very) easy to use, great customer service (just bought it but, was interested in replacement grinding wheels down the road..they actually called back the same day!!)Also even though it does not say so, you can replace the grinding wheel on the 250 model (along w/ the 500 & 750).In a few months plan on buying the 750 to sharpen larger bits.Highly recommend it.

Drill Doctor 250SP fixes my bits,
By A Customer
This review is from: Drill Doctor 250 Drill Bit Sharpener (Misc.)
This is a nice product, I'd almost give it 5 stars but its not perfect.I almost bought one a year ago, but I decided to get a bench grinder instead thinking I could sharpen my bits that way. Well, I was able to sharpen some but the learning curve was a little too high. You have to use a twist and feed motion to cut the right curve in the bit at the right place. My sharpened bits were time consuming to get uniform and just right. The Drill Doctor I finally got recently makes it a snap - the set-up alignment is nearly fool proof and the chuck rides a cam to get the correct feeding motion everytime. I sharpened all my bits (three or four sets plus the ones in my tap set) in less than an hour. All looked sharp and uniform. I read the two page instructions and bagged the videotape it was so easy. My complaints: Won't do bits under 3/32", the smaller bits are hard to align because they are short and hard to grab and twist, and as good as it is, I wish it didn't cost so much. Hint: on those short bits, I just learned to insert then in the aligner first, turn to the correct orientation, then slide the chuck over them and tighten the chuck.

The best little drill bit sharpener ever,

The Drill Doctor 250 is a must for all tool enthusiasts. Sharpening twist and masonry bits has never been easier. The instructional video (included) is a definite prerequisite to using the Drill Doctor. It sharpens bits beyond their original factory edges, and for under a $100 bucks it was an easy purchase compared to ruining bit after bit on my bench grinder or buying new bits all the time. The 250 is one great tool.

What It Does It Does Well,

My wife gave me a Drill Dr. 250SP a couple of Christmases ago, and I wouldn't be without it. If you often use twist bits and masonry bits it's fantastic. I viewed the videotape and read the manual before I even plugged the thing in. You really need to do this in order to understand the tool and use it successfully. The instructions were well conveyed--in fact even a bit redundant. Once I got my mitts on the tool, I found it to be well made with heavy plastic case and high-grade cord. It looks like it will last a long time, and it sounds like a quality tool when it runs. It is also easy to use, sharpening efficiently and smoothly with very little practice. I was able to sharpen about 72 bits in my shop in a little over an hour. A sharp bit makes much cleaner holes in wood with no burning. And I often use it to sharpen bits right before I drill metal--always makes a cleaner, faster cut and the bit doesn't dance as much when you're starting the hole. I don't have any problems sharpening 1/8" bits, but smaller than that, I just use bits like consumables because they are so cheap. The point has been made that what the DD costs will buy a lot of bits. That may be true if you buy cheap bits, but would you buy a new bit for every project? And what about your time to go to the store to pick the darn things up? True it doesn't sharpen brad point bits, impact bits, Forstner bits, auger bits, saw blades, jointer knives or fingernail clippers, but what it does it does very well at a very fair price. Two big thumbs up!

Great Tool,
By A Customer

This is a great tool for sharpening small to medium size drill bits. It really does work. Larger bits take take a while to sharpen and it does get tedious having to turn the bit while using the drill to spin the sharpening abrasive. It would have been cool if everthing was automatic but then look at the low price. Overall this is a great tool...you can have your old bit good as new in just 3-5 minutes.

I bought this item based on favorable reviews and it is as easy to use and as efficient as all have said it was. I sharpened a 25 bit set in less than a half hour. Tried 2 of them in steel and they cut very well.

Drill Doctor ????,
By Thomas Liptaik (fla ,usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Drill Doctor 250 Drill Bit Sharpener (Misc.)
This can't work as I have had two other sharpeners and was very disappointed, in fact I gave one to my best enemy. Joy on her face as I opened the package forced me to be wild with expectation and try it. Hit me with a turkey, the instruction were clear and the drill bits were sharp as new, and faster than I imagined. I really cannot believe how well it works. If you do a lot of drill work it would be worth twice the price since I now won't throw the bits away when they get a little dull.
