A precocious student, Milarepa quickly developed into a powerful teacher and was instrumental in introducing Buddhism into Tibet during the Middle Ages. The songs in this collection reflect traditional Buddhist teachings during meditation, liberation of the self, and the elimination of desires. The translations sparkle and the songs give insight into the little-known world of Tibetan Buddhism, but given the narrow focus, this book is recommended only for large public libraries and academic libraries.

Lama Kunga's way of telling the tales of Milarepa makes me want to read on and on. Milarepa, himself, was a character I found to be fascinating to study. Being able to find this book after so many years helped to facillitate the joys of the Tibetan Buddhist way of life and culture.
