Book Description

She’s the brutally honest breath of fresh air on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, known for her dramatic divorce, her barely-there clothing, and her inability to keep her mouth shut. So why should she change now? Brandi Glanville tells all in this hilarious, no-holds-barred memoir.

Fans have been waiting for Brandi’s scoop on one of the biggest divorces of the decade, since her husband of eight years abandoned her and their two sons to marry country singer LeAnn Rimes. Not only does Brandi spill the beans about her side of the split, the lovable housewife shares the incredible wild ride that took her from a life in the ghetto to Hollywood’s most elite circles. For the first time, Brandi talks about how she escaped a rough neighborhood on the outskirts of Sacramento and stumbled into a successful modeling career that swept her into a world of Paris Fashion Weeks, private jets, and uncircumcised penises. Before she knew it, Brandi was the perfect Hollywood trophy wife—at least until her marriage exploded.

Today, the refreshingly filter-free housewife and unapologetic mom is the newest full-time cast member of Bravo’s juggernaut franchise, where she often elicits raised eyebrows and gossip from her costars for her refusal to be the scorned ex-wife, to be bullied, to change her sarcastic sense of humor, or—on most occasions—to wear a bra. Sassy, raunchy, and compulsively readable, Drinking and Tweeting perfectly captures Brandi’s open-book attitude, as she dishes about everything from her DUI, her cheating ex, her one-night stands, and the secret plastic surgery that made her “seventeen” again. You’re sure to enjoy every page of this funny, upbeat, honest tale. Clear your schedule for an afternoon and grab your favorite cocktail, a comfy seat . . . and maybe a Xanax. But that’s for later.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“Is there a Pulitzer category for memoirs by jilted reality stars who like to talk smack about ex-husbands and "bonus moms?" Because if so, this book should win it... The best piece of celeb literature we've ever come across." (Ali Trachta LA Weekly.com)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!! Celebrity Gossip Lover's Wet Dream!! February 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book opens with a bang (wink, wink) and doesn't stop. If you are someone who reads the weekly celebrity gossip magazines, blogs, etc. this is a dream come true. Brandi Glanville does in this book what fans of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are use to, she opens up her unfiltered mouth and doesn't close it until its all out there, warts and all.(almost literally;) Brandi is rare, especially by celebrity standards. She doesn't just dish other's dirt, she is more than willing to disclose her own short-comings, mistakes, criminal mischief, sexual exploits and...well...pretty much anything else that comes to her pretty little mind. It is a hilarious read that had me laughing out loud. And while Brandi as much as admits herself that she doubts anyone reading is looking for real life advice, she does give some really good information in her reflections, if you are willing to accept it. I would very much recommend this book. But it is not for the uptight, as she rarely sensors herself and at times has you asking, "Where is this chick's publicist?" There are many amazing one-liner's that will, no doubt, go viral. I say more power to you Ms. Glanville!! Any book that has me reading through the night because I just can't put it down, is a best seller and money well spent. Bravo Brandi!

5.0 out of 5 stars #Don'tMessWithBrandi February 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Let's be honest here for a moment shall we?

Stealing Brandi Glanville's husband could possibly be the worst career mistake Leann Rimes ever made ... even worse then Coyote Ugly (and that's saying MORE then a lot). And within the pages of the biography, she's going to pay for it dearly.

Drinking and Tweeting is a salacious book from the open line directed to "v***** owners and gays", full of sound advice from a woman who has "been there and done that" ... some will call this book drivel and others will claim this book is the downfall of literary greatness. But, it's also the book that lifts the veil on divorce, infidelity and rebounding from heartbreak with a lot of humor and not a lot of grace. But ladies, or um ... "v***** owners" ... we've all been there.

Glanville pulls no punches and cuts a lot of teeth at the expense of others ... and why shouldn't she? This is, after all, her story. She pulled the short stick, might as well profit from it ... Leann has her music, Brandi has her whit ... to which I say, touché! One is definitely more entertaining then the other.

We've seen a lot of books from the housewives over the years from Taylor Armstrong's disastrous novel to Kyle Richards preachy offering. But Drink and Tweeting is by the far the closest one to truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brutally honest! February 15, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This book is a hilarious read. I love that she is so honest about her mistakes and the reasons for writing it. In my opinion she's just as hard on herself as she is on Eddie and all his women. Until you've walked in her shoes, judging her actions is unfair. She doesn't ask for sympathy...just states the facts through her eyes. Go Brandi!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Admire March 23, 2013

Honesty and bravery. I'm in the middle of this book and have watched Brandi on Housewives. I like her very much, filter or no filter! So far I like what I've read. Also like that I was able to download easily and quickly. Life at times is like walking thru a garden of poison ivy, and it's nice to read about how one person learned to rely on calamine and self awareness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book to read February 12, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
You don't have to be a fan of the Real Housewives to enjoy this book. It's simple and funny. Brandi doesn't hold back on her feelings, and that's what makes the book great. Unlike books from Kyle Richards and Taylor Armstrong, there is authenticity when you read about Brandi's struggle and journey. Check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Raw Truth About One Woman's Journey From Pain To Triumph February 16, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Normally I don't buy books that Real Housewives publish....mainly because I don't think most of them have a story worth hearing. But in this case my interest was peaked as I knew I could count on Brandi to share the unfiltered truth about the public humiliation she suffered at the hands of her cheating spouse and his sugar momma. What I wasn't prepared for was how bad they actually treated Brandi and thus her anger and resentment of LeAnn Rimes makes even more sense. I can't even imagine what it is like to think you are secure in a happy marriage and then to find out that the love or your life is not only a serial cheater but has also exposed you to a sexually transmitted disease because his respect for women doesn't appear to exist. And for LeAnn as the cheating adulter to have absolutely no regard for the children and to have never expressed any remorse is frankly just disgusting.

I was pleasantly surprised that when reading Brandi's memoir I realized it was much more than a tell all book. This is a story that could apply to anyone, not just ladies and gays. Anyone who had a dream and found heartache instead can relate. Anyone who somehow along life's past lost their sense of self can identify with this book. Brandi is to be applauded for her gut wrenching no holds barred honesty as she tells about her darkest hours and how she handled it. Anger, booze and depression are natural reactions and it is amazing how she found the strength to fight back against the money machine that is LeAnn Rimes to once again find herself. I can't imagine the pain as a mother to see another woman, one who clearly only cares about her own selfish needs, attempt to mother my kids by wanting to "buy" their love. I can see why Brandi is afraid for the safety of her children...
