Good Stuff,
By Joshua Rubach (New York, New York United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Drinking from the Water Clock (Audio CD)
For those music fans interested in tunes that make you move and groove, this album's a must-buy. Quite simply put, these dudes rock. Rebecca's Statue's varied influences open up a whole new window to jamming fusion. The only thing better than listening to the album is seeing the band live. So, you'll have something to look forward to -

a cobblestone beat,
By "ciaobella9" (chicago, il) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Drinking from the Water Clock (Audio CD)
As one of the best young bands working their way up in the Chicago music scene, Rebecca's Statue will knock you off your feet, literally. I've been seeing Rebecca's Statue live for a couple years now at all sorts of bars in Chicago and the suburbs, and I've always considered them one of the funnest bands to see. But it wasn't until I bought their album, Drinking from the Waterclock, that I realized how diverse and amazingly tight they really are. What I like most about Rebecca's Staute and in particular this album is how upbeat and genuinely exciting their music sounds. A combination of blue grass, rock and roll, and blues, this album sounds like it could have been recorded live on a little cobblestone street in South America or in a beautiful European piazza. This album has a beat that's unparalleled and a flow that will leave your feet tapp'n, your fingers snapp'n, and lyrics that'll be hard to loose.

Peanut Butter Pancake,
By A Customer
This review is from: Drinking from the Water Clock (Audio CD)
Like combining peanut butter and pancakes, the statue combine the most unlikliest of influences and create a delicious chewy mixture. The bluesy harmonica slayings of frontman Mike Grill are some of Chicago's best sounds. If I had fifteen dollars to spend and I could buy one new album, it would be Electric Ladyland Land by Hendrix, but since I already own it I will buy Drinking from the WaterClock. Keep rocking

Strawberry Pie for the Ears,
By GarveyCraw12 (Little Rock, AK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Drinking from the Water Clock (Audio CD)
If you enjoy eating strawberry pie at any point in the year, than you will love the long-awaited debut album from one of the best jam bands in Chicago. Statue jams are flowing, yet tight, every instrument fits together like a 100 piece jigsaw puzzle. And just like it's hard to ignore that jigsaw, it's hard to take "Drinking" from your cd player. Also, if you love that warm feeling that comes over you when you eat pumpkin pie, specifically on Thanksgiving, then you too will love this cd, and cherish it, just like Katie, from the lyrics of "Backstreet Mary", cherishes her turkey subs from Blimpie. Instrumental sections fit together like a statue, specifically a Picasso, maybe the one in Chicago. "The Picasso". The Statue. If you love Christmas, buy this CD.

A must buy,
By Steve Earle (Glen Ellyn, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Drinking from the Water Clock (Audio CD)
Having no idea what to expect before going to my first Rebecca's Statue show, I asked around. "Like Phish, but more bluesy.", some said. "Highly inspirational", a rollicking young hipster blurted out. The Statue was all these things, and then some. But could they make an album? Many spectacular live bands have trouble going from the live world to the studio world. Well simply put, they got it taken care of. This album ranks high among my favorites. The Statue is one of those bands that has so many influences it would be impossible to name a few bands or styles as their influence. All I can say is that I've played this CD for fans of jazz, blues, hard rock, pop, and bluegrass, and all of those people have bought "Drinking From the Water Clock", or gone to a Statue show. You will not be disappointed with this disc.

Great first CD for a hot new band from Chicago,
By A Customer
This review is from: Drinking From The Water Clock (Audio CD)
Rebecca's Statue's first album is terrific. This album will appeal to people that like Phish, the Allman's, Blues Traveler and anyone that likes good music. This group is getting very big in the Chicago music scene and have already played at House of Blues a few times. They have also recorded with Son Seals, who is on this record for one song.

If you like music, you must have Rebecca's Statue in your collection! They are a unique blend of many musical influences, resulting in a sound that only leaves you craving more. I happened upon this band at a bar in Chicago and was blown away. So I got this disc. Since then, I've seen them a few more times and think that they may even be better live!

A must for Jam Band fans!,

I've only recently discovered Rebecca's Statue. But it didn't take long to get hooked. Being a big fan of bands like Wide Spread Panic, String Cheese and LOS, I found that Rebecca's Statue's style fit in well. And "Drinking from the Water Clock" was also a perfect fit into my CD collection. If your a fan of Jam Bands, you'll be a fan of Rebecca's Statue. Buy this CD!
