Reading, sipping and enjoying!,

This review is from: Drinks (Hardcover)
This book is not only a must for any collector, but for the novice too. Its rich history of drinks is truly complimented by the illustrations. Information on buying, storing, and serving, is more than helpful. Above all else, this book is just beautiful. I gave it as a Father's Day present this year.

One of the very best,
By
This review is from: Drinks (Paperback)
I bought this book hoping to gain some general knowledge of spirits. This book does much more than that, I do wish there was more dedicated to the history and the making of each spirit, but I think the author does a fantastic job at providing a summary for each.
The most popular brands available for each spirit and cordials are listed here, most of them with pictures of the actual bottle, which is useful for me as a new bartender as it helps me recognize the bottles easier and even read about the very products i use every day. The collection of drink recipes is organized by flavor, but not in the Tequila-Vodka-Gin etc, Order, but rather by using categories like rich, tangy, sour...I find this very useful, and it goes as far as telling if the drink is better as an after dinner drink, anytime, etc. This book also includes a good section on wines, and even on how to pair them up with food. An entire chapter for beer can be found here too. This is without a doubt one of the best books on drinks, it is very informative, beautifully designed, classy and well organized. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, unless you are looking for drink recipes only, while this book contains several classic cocktail recipes, it goes well beyond that.
