I bought the fountain that comes with a large reservoir. My only complaint (as the fountain is great) is in the reservoir. My cat likes to see the bubbles it makes as it lets water out, so every night she knocks off the reservoir while playing with it and spills water all over my kitchen floor. It isn't attached in any way and is not sturdy. It just sits in this shallow holder. I don't know why it doesn't come with a better holder...or isn't attached in some way.
Really that's my only complaint. My cat is actually drinking more water than before which is great!

Bathroom sink? I think not.,

It works great. However, I purchased this item to fool my cat that it is fresh running water like the bathroom sink where he sits and meow's and doesn't stop until i turn it on for him after he heats and any hour during the day, night or whenever he gets thirsty. Didn't fool him. It keeps fresh running water yes and that's a plus for it to always be clean when I'm away for a long day. But it is not to be used to fool them that it's coming from some outside source. Overall great product I recommend it highly.

Of all the gadgets we've gotten for our cats over the years (electronic feeder, self-cleaning litter box, battery operated toys) this one has withstood the test of time. Both of our tabbies love it. The first few days they were afraid of it, but they got used to it. We add water every few days to avoid the gurgling noise it makes when water is running low (we do not have the "reservoir").
Every once in a while I like to give the motor a rest, so I shut off the fountain. It does not have an on/off button so you have to unplug it. We replace filter every few months (relatively inexpensive purchase). And we clean out the mechanism every couple of weeks with a bottle brush. Anyway our cats are healthy & hydrated, and the fountain is a nice addition to our kitchen.
