After my cat ignored basic rules of survival (aka - drinking water), we bought him a fountain (can't remember what kind), which he turned his nose up at. So we gave that one away and tried this one, and now my cat has found the will to live! In all seriousness, both my cats love this, they drink water and it actually keeps them pretty entertained. I would definitely recommend it.

I actually have the Big Dog fountain because it holds over a gallon of water. I have 4 cats and 4 dogs and they love drinking from it. The cats love to drink from the stream of water as does one of my dogs. It keeps their water oxygenated and clean from slobber, food particles and fur that can get into their water supply. The water stays fresh and therefore, your pets drink more which is vital to good health. Just remember not to put the reservoir in the dishwasher, I melted our first one (oops) Hand wash only. Make sure to also change your filters regularly and the water stays nice and clean. You wouldn't want to drink dirty water, so why should your pet. I'm sending one to my Mom for Christmas because her cat loves to drink out of the bathroom sink. Cats love moving water. This water fountain was bought for one of my cats that has problems with getting crystal's in his urine and was recommended by the vet to buy a fountain to encourage him to drink as much as possible. I was a little hesitant to buy one because of the expense and for one more "to-do" to clean and look after, but it really easy to pull apart and clean. I put a full jug of water in the filter area and in the back section before I place the water reservoir on it so the water will last even longer.

My only complaint is that I wish the reservoir had a flat top. As it is right now it has a curved top, so I have to hold it while it's being filled up and then make sure it get's placed on the fountain right away since I can't place it on it's side. This is not a big deal at all, but sometimes with having a busy household (2 kids under 3, 2 cats and a dog) I can't always stop to take the time to fill up the reservoir and get it right back to the fountain since the fountain is not in the kitchen, it's on a different floor and not near a bathroom. It would be nice at times to let it fill up under the faucet on it's own and then I'll place it on the counter ready to go for the next time I go downstairs.
