More About the Author

Christy Evans is the mystery pen name of multi-published author Christina F. York.

Chris/Christy looks at writing like an all-you-can-eat buffet: she has to try a little bit of everything. She has written business and technical non-fiction, erotica, action-adventure, SF, fantasy, romance, YA, and various combinations of all of the above.
She has always loved words, in every form. Her first foray into publishing, as the ten-year-old reporter, editor and publisher of a one-page neighborhood newspaper, lasted only a few weeks. During the enforced retirement that followed, she finished grade school, high school, and college, married, had a couple kids, divorced, re-married, and eventually found her way back to writing.
An Oregon native, Christina has always lived on the West Coast. After growing up in the suburbs of L.A., she spent many years in and around Seattle, moved to Eugene, Oregon, and eventually settled on the rugged Oregon coast, where she can see the ocean from her office window. She shares her home with her husband, writer J. Steven York, and a couple of very spoiled cats.
She is currently at work on a mystery for Berkley Prime Crime (MURDER BUYS A T-SHIRT) under the name Christy Fifield, and another for Tsunami Ridge Publishing (STRUNG UP). She can be found on Facebook (Christina York), Twitter (@christymystery and @christinafyork), Webpage www.YorkWriters.com, and on her mystery blog (http://christy-evans-mystery.blogspot.com/).

I loved this book! It delves more deeply into Georgie's relationship with her mother, and I laughed gleefully that someone else was having mom troubles! This is a quick and fun read by a great author. Now - where's the next one?

Another in the growing ranks of mystery series whose female protagonists have unusual careers, this series follows the adventures of Georgiana (Georgie) Neverall, a former computer security expert who leaves the corporate life behind to move back to her hometown in Oregon and become a plumber's apprentice.

Though this is the third book in the series, enough background is provided to make the reader feel acquainted with Georgie. As this book begins, she is underneath the house that she grew up in checking the pipes prior to purchasing it from her about-to-be married mother.

To her horror, she finds the body of her mother's fiancé, Gregory Whitlock, who appears to be dead. Even more alarming, her mother is arrested for the crime. Although Georgie finds Sandra Neverall annoying and frustrating, she's certain that her parent is not a killer, and sets out to discover what actually happened.

Georgie's rocky relationship with her mother is extremely realistic, and many daughters will sympathize with Georgie's inconsistent emotional responses. Also some good descriptions of close female friendships and rekindling romance with her high school sweetheart.

Now to find the time to read the first two books in the series!

Poor Georgie has her hands full in this cozy.
What fun to peek inside the lives of this mother/daughter ongoing story.
Leave it to Georgie to find another body.
The lesson she learns here is.....
don't go looking under houses unless you can handle
what you find.
I enjoyed this cozy for it's plot, the characters,
and a little bit of the bizarre factor included.
I especially liked that Georgie and her mother have to rely
on each other, whether they like it or not.
Nothing like a murder to bring families together.
In this installment, we get to see more depth to the characters.
We get to see it all.
A little jealousy, with a whiff of tenacity, and maybe a little bit of spunk.
Good mystery.......next.

Georgiana works as a plumber's apprentice as she studies to take the test to earn her plumber's license. Her mother is marrying real estate mogul Gregory Whitlock and he is building a brand new house for he and his bride. Georgiana's mother has offered to sell her house to her daughter but before that can happen it needs to pass inspection. Georgie knows she can handle the plumbing part of the inspection herself which involves crawling under the house to check the pipes. Imagine her surprise when she is discovers she is not the only body underneath the house. Big problem, the other body is dead and it is her mother's fiancée Gregory Whitlock. Of course the first person suspected of the killing is Georgie's mom and Georgie will be crawling in to more deep dark spaces to try to save her mother from drowning in a bunch of circumstantial evidence to bring the real killer to justice. She also has to keep herself out of hot water so she doesn't end up as another dead body.

Is this the end of the Georgiana Neverall Series? It seemed like it. I loved the first two books in this series so maybe my expectations were set too high. This story just seemed to predictable to me. It was like a cozy mystery light, light on the mystery, light on humor and romance, light on the plot. I hope this is not the end of the series because I know this author can write a good mystery. I love cozy mysteries so it is really hard to write a review for a book that just didn't excite me. I look forward to more offerings by Christy Evans and hope this one was just a fluke that didn't rise to the high bar she set for herself in the first two books in this series.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Berkley Prime Crime, a Division of Penguin Publishing.

In Pine Ridge, Oregon apprentice plumber Georgiana Neverall of Hickey & Hickey Plumbing is about to buy her mom Sandra's house as her mother moves in with her fiancé. She knows the pipes in the kitchen are galvanized steel, which rusts from the inside out over thirty years so leaks should be the norm. Thus, reluctantly Georgie crawls under the house to inspect the plumbing though she loathes that part of a plumber's job. Instead of drips, she finds the corpse of her mom's fiancé realtor Gregory Whitlock.

Pine Ridge Sheriff Fred Mitchell arrives along with two blue suited paramedics. Soon afterward Fred arrests Sandra. Georgie knows her mom is only guilty of planning to marry "Mr. Too Smooth" and being a lifetime pain in the butt so like a loyal daughter she decides to investigate over the protests of her maybe boyfriend Councilman Wade Montgomery and her BFF Fred's girlfriend Sue Gibbons. With Wade and Sue having her back, she begins digging into the cesspool business practices of the deceased as only a former computer security guru as she was could do. As she unravels Smooth's shaky money scheme, a murderer pursues her while in between her investigation she studies for the plumbing license exam.

Drip Dead is an engaging amateur sleuth mystery as Georgie makes inquiries into the deceased's realty business. The spirited wrench turner obviously needs no sleep as balances her mother's fears, a nasty investigation into financial crap and the test. Readers will enjoy Georgie who pulls out much more than just a plumb and her two hesitant teammates as they work a nasty Lead Pipe Cinch case while trying not to fall into a deadly Sink Trap.
