As good as it gets,
By Henry Jolley (Fairhope Al. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Drippin Wet (Audio CD)
I know the band personally, especially Lewis Ross, and John Anthony. These guys and the rest of Wet Willie, Jimmy Hall Jack Hall and Ricky Hirsch, are as good as any musician who ever laid down a recorded track of music. I have the greatest respect for them as musicians and as people. Drippin' Wet is a masterpiece of solid rock and soul music unequaled anywhere. They have influenced many more musicians than they will ever know. Get this CD for your collection....you won't be sorry!! And on a personal note, 'thanks guys!'

A Hard Rockin' R&B Influenced Essential Live Album.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Drippin Wet (Audio CD)
What if The Stones had been from a place that was closer to Birmingham Alabama than Birmingham England? If that was the case they would probably sound like Wet Willie. Like The Stones, Wet Willie has a remarkable lead singer: Jimmy Hall. Jimmy Hall is about the most expressive and soulful white singer I have ever heard. Ricky Hirsch is a great rock/blues guitarist. He has the subtlety and rhythm comparable to B.B. King, but like Clapton can be heavy and loud in a very musical way when the moment is right. Combined with their crack bandmates who obviously have the same respect for the music, it's not a stretch to say Wet Willie was a Rockin' R&B Juggernaut of a band. In many ways Wet Willie was every bit as great as The Stones while staying truer to their R&B roots. "Drippin' Wet", now remastered and finally released on cd, may be the only evidence one needs to witness to arrive at this same conclusion. If you like emotionally driven good time rock and roll with a very funky R&B influence, then do not delay your satisfaction and order "Drippin' Wet" by Wet Willie immediately. It's one of the best albums period, live or otherwise. Miss this at your own loss.

MOST UNDER RATED GROUP EVER,
By Anthony P. Arnone (Alabaster, Al. United States) - See all my reviews

I HAVE BEEN A WET WILLIE FAN SINCE THE 70'S. PROBABLY SEENTHEM PERFORM WHO KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES. TO THIS DAY I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE NOT MENTIONED IN THE SAME BREATH AS THE ALLMAN BROS, SKYNARD AND OTHERS. I DON'T KNOW OF ANY VOCALIST WHO CAN COME CLOSE TO THE ENERGY AND TALENT OF JIMMY HALL.THAT MAN CAN BRING ANY HOUSE DOWN. THANK GOODNESS CAPRICORN RECAPTURED THOSE GREAT MOMENTS ON CD.
