I am very happy with this chalk marker. The chalk brushes off quite nicely when finished sewing. A very handy marking tool.

The chalk is a little messy if the case gets tipped over and the wheel doesn't always roll, but it gets the job done.

Lots of people don't like chalk markers, but I do. The felt tip markers fade before I'm ready. This marker stays until I'm finished with it. I'm making purses, place mats, and other small things while I learn to sew and read patterns.

It was very hard to get open. I had to get my husband to help, which meant he had to enter the boundaries of my sewing lair -- something he is loathe to do. Sometimes, not enough chalk powder gets on the wheel to make a good line. Save yourself the trouble. Get a proper wedge of tailor's chalk. You might get chalk on your fingers, but it's the right tool.

I've had a chalk wheels around for at least 40 years, but just started using the last couple of years. I've found them helpful since I don't use commercial patterns as often as I originally did. Since my body shape has changed in last 20 years, I find working with rectangular pieces of fabric suits my figure in making my clothes. I dislike altering commercial patterns; I've never found one that didn't require a lot of time to alter. The chalk wheel and ruler help in drafting a pattern.
