I look for several things in my pins, and Dritz pins pin those qualifications
1) pins should be sharp, so they don't damage the fabric
2) they should not be so thick as to leave holes in the fabric, yet not too thin so they don't bend easily
3) pins should be long, so they stay in while I manipulate the fabric
The pins in this set work well for me. I recommend this product

I bought these as a gift for my fiance along with about a dozen other items to help her get started with her passion for sewing. I can actually say that they work great for pinning fabrics because I even used some this Halloween while constructing a costume. The colorful tips are great for locating and removing the pins from any color fabric when you are done with them, and the nickel plating makes them smooth and durable. My only complaint is that after purchasing these, I found out they cost less than half as much at our local fabric store. Still, it's not a lot of money for 120 pins, and buying them on Amazon saves you a trip to the fabric store. [which may be worth the higher price...]

These straight pins are just what my college student needs for his garment construction class. They are longer than regular straight pins, and the bigger head on them makes it easier to grasp one.

These pins are everything the other reviewers say: sharp, easy to see, nice and long. I was using them to hold transfers for embroidery to my fabric and the heads melted from the heat of the iron. The good part is they didn't melt completely, they just flattened. They didn't get gooey or mess up the work and are still quite useable. This has never happened with other pins, I was surprised.

I went to a couple of stores trying to find long pins then came across these on here. They are long enough for me to not have to pin so closely together and strong enough to handle heavy fabric. Exactly what I was looking for!

These pins seem like good quality. I used them a couple times already and everything went as expected. The pearls at the ends make them pretty. But it still hurts to get pricked by them no matter what style they are! Careful of this, though very much recommend these pins!

I like these pins with their long shaft & bright heads. They are exceptionally sharp, as well as easier to see than regular pins. They also don't get lost in fabrics as often because of the bright heads. Easy to use.

Large head straight pins
These were a great purchase. I love the size of the head of the pins for quilting and regular hand sewing. Machine sewing is made easier too with the easy to grasp heads.

Nice pens
