I purchased this for a hand applique quilt class that I was attending and it works perfectly for template applique. This little iron works ten times better than the other little iron that is out there (I have purchased that one too and gave it away). Love this, portable, easy to use, heats up fast, couldn't be happier!

I purchased this for a specific need, to be able to iron within the embroidery hoop space with a fusible stabilizer. I had several tee shirts to embroider and wanted to hoop the stabilizer but not the shirts to prevent any hoop burn. I tried several methods including using a regular iron to attach the shirt and then hoop the stablizer, wasn't particularly pleased. With this little tool, I hooped the fusible and could perfectly lay the shirt on top, pin it exactly where I wanted it and then get in there with this little iron. Works like a charm, and gets hot enough to fuse. There are 4 heat settings and I used level 3 to fuse, it was a poly shirt so I didn't want to try 4. It was quite hot enough and the fact that the iron face is adjustable made it easy to maneuver in the small space. I also have the tiny quilting iron, with the 1" sole plate, but this seemed to be better for me.

Okay, I have all the fancy tips and upgrades for the Clover mini-iron. I hate it... have burned myself and is not very good for folks with hand problems. This little Dritz mini-iron is exactly what I need... ergonomic, easy to handle, safer, and has multiple positions for the head which is shaped just like a little tiny iron... and has 4 heat levels and a long, long cord. And, it handles just like an iron so you don't have retrain or overly focus on handling it... just the little head is tiny and it is not for big jobs, obviously!!
I love this little thing as you can use just about any place to iron out fat quarters or press some little applique or folded flowers... what a great buy and the seller just about got this to me in a day and a half... don't know why folks are not raving like crazy on this little crafter's jewel? I sort of stumbled on it trying to find something else...instead of dragging out the big heavy iron and ironing board...

I would buy again and would be a great gift to a mixed media artist/crafter!!!

My husband bought this for me several months ago after reading the reviews from others who bought it to iron in the embroidery hoop. That is the reason I bought it and I didn't expect to use it for more than that.

It definitely does well for that purpose. It is small and low profile so that I can leave the hoop on the machine, slip a thin mat under the hoop, and iron without removing the hoop from the machine.

However, I have found that it is also a great item to keep next to the sewing machine when I am piecing. My current project involves Y seams where I iron the seam open on the stem of the Y. I have always struggeled with how to do this without burning my hands and my full sized iron is clumsy for this. The petite press iron is perfect! Just the right size to handle this trick.

Don't get me wrong - this doesn't replace a full size iron with steam when you want to finish press your pieces. However, this is the right tool for a small job (tiny job?) with no steam.

The iron has 3 buttons- on/off, increase the heat setting and decrease the heat setting. My experience with this type of button is that the button won't last as long as the rest of the appliance, but this isn't an everyday item for me, so that is okay.

The iron also has a built in wire stand (that you can easily pop up and down as needed) to allow you to set the iron down on the ironing surface without burning your ironing mat. I like the fact that I can pick up the iron in one hand and flip the stand up or down without having to use the other hand.

I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.

I have read the positive reviews with amazement. I purchased this item about a year ago to use during quilting projects. I have 2 main problems with it: (#1) it doesn't get HOT! Even on the highest setting it feels more like a mug warmer than an iron. I get better results from finger pressing an item, and problem (#2) It is constantly tipping over and/or sliding off the ironing board or sewing table. I have no problem with it being lightweight, but it's poorly engineered so that the weight isn't properly balanced. The last thing I want to work with is a tool that is slipping and sliding all over the place. Part of the problem is that the cord is way too short. As for the so-called stand, forget it.

Sorry To write a bad review about a Dritz product. I use many of the fine items they offer quilters on a budget. Many of them work better than the pricier items designed to do the same job. I must also say that I did not use this item to press something in a quilting hoop, as many did who gave positive reviews.

Great price. Wonderful little iron, even better than I anticipated! HEATS FAST!! Handy and convenient design. The handle pivots from horizontal to vertical so the ironing surface can be used in any position. Ironing surface is perfect size to fit small surfaces and tight spots yet large enough you don't have to fiddle with it to iron the surface of what you are working on. Much better and easier to use than the other brand shaped like a soldering iron (which I also have).
