Disappointing,

When I first heard that Driver 3 was coming out I was really excited. I liked the first two Drivers and thought that a Driver on XBOX would be incredible. Driver 3 did not come close to meeting my expectations. The graphics have improved, but seem a little bland for XBOX. The maps are big but it lacks the fine detail that other similar games have. The game even lags at times. This is an XBOX not a PS1. The cars are still tough to control which makes it seem a lot more realistic. The missions are still a bit slow. Sure the driving parts are fun and you get weapons finally. Unfortunately the enemy AI is about a dumb as a post so there not much challenge in the shooting parts of the game. Another thing I noticed was that the cops seem a bit less involved during missions than the last two games. Im about halfway through the second city and I have only run into cops in about three missions. Another thing about the missions are the constant restarts. If you make one wrong move during a car chase you will lose the guy and have to restart the mission. Sometimes the character will freeze when you are on foot. This is convenient especially when you are at the end of a misson. I think games have evolved enought for characters not to get stuck in walls. A new feature of driver 3 for Xbox is custom sountrack. When I saw this I didn't think it could get any better. I started playing the game with my own music. The only problem is that everytime you restart the mission your soundtrack starts at the beginning so you tend to hear the same few songs over and over and there is no way to put it on random or to skip songs. So you end up turning the music off most of the time. The only thing is that if you turn the music off you have no volume during cutscenes which is the best part of the game. Anyways If your looking for a grand theft auto style game just wait until the new grand theft auto comes out in october because this is nothing like it and it a waste of $50. I would recommend renting it because you will get sick of it fast. You could also just wait until it is $20.

Driv3r is not about the storyline. Its not about the graphics...
Heck... Its not even about the cars. Driv3r is all about the free-roaming world. For example in Miami, did you know that there is a hidden Go-Kart Track? Or that in Istanbul there is a Drawbridge the size of the empire state building that can be opened up at any time? (Extremely fun) If you play this game as much as I do, The glitches are what makes it very fun... If you have never played this game get yourself the cheatcode that unlocks everything and go crazy in the Take a ride mode. That is where the fun is.

this game has excellent graphics and physics, but that doesn't make it any more fun to play the first 30 seconds of a level 30 times because if you miss one turn or clip a tree and have to start over. Even missions that should be easy like following a police car to a crime scene are easily blown by one mistake. I've only played this game to level three and I'm already setting it aside.

Anybody who has played the Driver games and GTA will love Driv3r as the second best thing that has come out on PS2 yet. Although there are some game crashes (as with GTA:Vice City but a little more here) because the A.I. is so sophisticated. With so many possibilities because of the highly detailed and semi-destructible environments and certainly destructible vehicles - that to tune this game to perfection, without crashes would probably mean waiting for the PS3/XBOX2 to come out or the PC VERSION! There is no doubt - no other game has pushed the limits of a console gaming experience like Driv3r (PC Half-Life 2 rulez all). The Getaway had similar problems on release with its glitches but Driv3r is nothing like that horrible experience and is more akin to that cherry you got popped when you stuck the Vice City disk into the machine. Also please remember that if it was not for Driver 1 + 2 we would not have had the 3D GTA series!!!! GTA 3D was spawned by the Driver series!!!! Div3r has now developed nicely... It deserves it too... and to be honest I am looking forward to Driver 4.
There are 3 full scale cities (Miami, Nice and Istanbul - all WOW! WOW! BIG WOW!) and I believe the detail is a little better than GTA: San Andreas, but not as big. Tanner has a choice of several weapons including a rocket launcher that virtually blows up everything except some buildings. There are, however, no sniper riffles or melee weapons! But the game story is different and these are never needed. A pair of binoculars with a zoom feature would not have gone amiss! Tanner can swim (spawning GTA: San Andreas aquatics!) So no more death by drowning - YOU can fly off a bridge into the water and swim ashore again! The vehicle destruction systems and world physics in this game are as good as they will get on the PS2/XBOX. If this thing hits the PC it will probably be awesome. So will San Andreas. The driving in Driv3r is as realistic as Grand Turismo and is not too far away from matching the graphics found in Need for Speed 3: Underground. There is a cool slow motion "fun" feature in the controller (L1+R1) that allows you to see crashes in slow-mo while still driving. There is very little blood in the game but that does not make it any less violent. The shootouts with the cops after a chase are first rate action sequences. Unlike the GTA series everything comes out of the blue and you will not second guess a thing. The A.I is that good. The replay and director mode are sublime. With Driver 1 + 2 you have spent hours creating endless little movies. If you liked that experience Driv3r will have you doing a recreation of the Steve McQueen Bullet car chase sequence in no time. Every conceivable camera angle and tracking shots are covered (with controllable cinematic motion blur!... Hell Yeah!) The missions themselves are each compelling, entertaining and present a level of realistic quality not seen before. This is as close as it gets to playing a movie on the XBOX/PS2. The free ride mode of course will allow you everlasting driving and mayhem across the 3 cities for the price of $50. You can also play various type chase/getaway/cross country/point to point/ scenarios. It has NO multiplayer which is a shame. I have wondered why they did not do this but then again this may be a problem with the PS2/XBOX engines. It is my understanding that San Andreas' Rockstar programmers could not do it either. I doubt we will ever see a 2 player game this rich in detail and game physics without better technology (In Grand Turismo you went around circuits and things did not blow up! and there where no cop chases and shootouts). Now and again the PS2/XBOX does stall at times even in the only single player mode. There is also no stats page like in GTA. There are tons of missions and you will spend a few days at them.... relentlessly. I can not quarrel about any of the little glitches that crop up now and again causing you to press reset on the console. To be honest the more I learned to control the game the less the glitches appeared (come on folks, they only happen now and again when you start learning the game). In fact I have not found a glitch in quite a long time (playing now 3 months +). The bottom line is that this is an evolution in driving game experience. Nothing will be the same after playing Driv3r. Pros: - The BEST game ever for the PS2. Better than Vice City. - Graphics are the best in any game for the PS2 so far. 3 gloriously rendered cities to do battle with. - The driving IS Grand Turismo. - The slo-mo fun feature is whacked out! - The shootouts and destruction on this scale and realism have not been seen before. - You can do virtually anything you want in the game. - The A.I is outstanding. - The car crash physics are like something NASA came up with. Cons: - Some glitches (jumping and control problems, going through walls sometimes, odd game crash). - Requires a greater deal of practice than you think before you fully come to grips with the Driv3r experience. - The shooting system may not be to everyone's style. - Character movement may appear sluggish at times (yet during playback it looks extremely realistic). - The height of realism impacts the cartoonish quality that GTA has. - You will die quicker in this game because you can be injured while driving.

First off I have to say this game looks great, driver 3 set's the bar for how GTA 4 should look. The detail of the cars is top notch as well as the city's , but it all ends there. I enjoy playing a game that will allow me to actually play and interact in the experience of the game , Driver 3 does not do that by far. I don't want to say its a HARD game , its just poorly designed. When you play missions over and over and over constantly failing to even get close to the car your trying desperately to chase because your burn out or hit a pole that completely stops you and with in seconds the title says " You lost him" or " He got away" , the frustration is unbearably constant , I just want to play to get close not to get shut down within seconds. I can't believe the game testers allowed this flaw to get pass . Within and hour of me playing the game for the first time I shut it off and installed GTA vice city , thank you ol RockStar Thank You....

Just so everyone gets a little education, if it wasn't for the Driver series, the GTA series wouldn't be where they are now. Reflections were the innovators of the driving-through-the-city type of games.
Now, stepping away from the education. I've played all the Driver games. They contain a great storyline, as if it was a detective movie you were playing (kind of like watching Shaft or Lethal Weapon). They're more action than side missions, special jobs, earning money, etc. Driv3r is no different. While the cities aren't as big as GTA: San Andreas, the cities are big enough for you to explore around. The cars handle very well, although sometimes they slide a little too much when you take a sharp turn. Reflections targeted towards realism than just driving around and crashing everything, like in GTA 3, Vice City or San Andreas (you can drive in the opposite lane in any GTA, pass a cop and they just sit there and do nothing, but in Driver the cops go after you). Where Driv3r fully shines is with the Movie Director (a feature that's not in any of the GTA games), in which you can make your own movie out of the game you just finished playing (the GTA series have a camera angle view that makes it look like a movie, but it won't record it in memory). Change camera angles, blur effects, slow motions, are a few of the things you can do. One feature that's not included in the PS2 version is that the XBox version you can sign up on XBox Live and upload your movie so other players online can view it. Driv3r is fun, and it won't compete with the GTA games, but it's entertaining in its own way.

First this game it totaly better than vice city and san andreas. Plus the driving in driver 3 is much better. No s%%% surelock it says drver 3 on the package. Also the shoting is just as good and better than GTA. In GTA u have to hold to many buttons and u don't even have to aim because it does it for you. Next GTA has to much blood, guts, and gore when Driver 3 dosen't. Plus GTA is racest against all races. And there is no swearing at all in Driver 3 when GTA says all kinds of junk that isn't even worth saying. Next GTA San andreas is to expensive when Driver 3 is going down in price. All in all Driver 3 is more appropeate then GTA and Driver 3 should not even should be rated M. But GTA should be rated A for adult.
I'm very and totaly obssed with Driver 3. Got to go and play more

Driver 3 for the Xbox is a third person action game, where you play a cop out to chase down and kill crime syndicates. The game is similar to Grand Theft Auto in concept, but not at all in execution. You can walk or run around on foot missions and explore the cityscape or you can cruise around with a vehicle of your choice. You can play the single player story mode if you want to see the story or you can play free-mode where you can roam around doing whatever you want. I did enjoy the fact that your character can swim in water, I also liked some of the map level designs. You can get on a highway and gas it or go through narrow alleways, you can also enter many of the buildings. Some of the weapons are fun to use although the aiming system is very clumsy. The overall feel of the game is very unplolished. There are tons of glitches with the sound effects, music, graphics and collision detection. Driver 3 was rushed and needed more beta testing before being released to the public as a finished product! Just to give you an example of some of the bugs; My game character's body got stuck into invisible objects, or his body went through (like a ghost) into a car, the in-game music stops or starts sparadically, ditto with the sound effects, headshots are not always fatal, the police and enemy A.I. is very stupid but cheats to compensate its stupidity, the game graphics are grainy and crappy, the framerate is low and there is no sense of real speed when driving vehicles. This game tried to be like Grand Theft Auto, but failed miserably. Why get a cheap clone of GTA, when you can get the real thing for a good price?
Pros: +Free-Form gameplay +large city maps +lots of vehicles +your character can swim +go inside buildings +pilot boats Cons: -tons of glitches -stupid A.I. -terrible graphics -slow vehicles -music cuts off abruptly -sound effects cuts off abruptly -bad controls -week sound effects -terrible camera system -boring missions -GTA wannabe -terrible collision detection -not very fun

I've bought this game about a week ago and its the BEST!! It is kinda hard at first, but you'll get used to it. It only took me about 5 days to beat it. And the best about it is that you can listen to your own music. So buy this game today and trust me, you won't regret. PEACE OUT!!!
